These firms often mislead clients and take a significant share of any compensation. On a positive note, Alex welcomed the FCA’s consultation on charging CMCs fees for complaints lodged with the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). He sees this as a step towards introducing accountability and discouraging misuse of the service. As we look back on 2024, it’s been a year of achievements, challenges, and lessons for the insurance and broking industry. A key highlight for us was the success of our CMS financial intermediaries product, which combined improved coverage, competitive pricing, and strengthened partnerships with AXA and AmTrust. This was warmly received by brokers and insureds alike. However, challenges remain, including the re-emergence of the “pay-to-play” model among larger brokers, which risks compromising customer outcomes and market stability. Looking ahead, we anticipate a potential market correction in 2025 as insurers recalibrate unsustainable premiums and coverage. 🌟 A Very Special Visitor in the Office! 🌟 We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming 3-year-old Eve, the daughter of our construction underwriter, Benjamin Randall, to the office last week! 🔍 Industry Insight from Benjamin Randall, Collegiate Construction Underwriter 🔍   This week’s government report on dangerous cladding reveals that the cladding crisis is far from over. With only about 40% of affected buildings identified and just 12–16% fully remediated, significant work remains—and so do the risks of increased Professional Indemnity claims.   The National Audit Office (NAO) highlights that while measures are in place to shift costs to developers, they have created grounds for lengthy disputes between developers and freeholders over the scope of works required. These disagreements are leading to delays further complicating the path forward. The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) now faces the challenge of expediting work, managing its funding cap, and recouping additional spending through the proposed Building Safety Levy.   Link to full report & BBC news article below: https://lnkd.in/eRkH7w4E
