The UK's leading independent design festival. Clerkenwell Design Week, 21-23 May 2024

About us

Clerkenwell is home to more creative businesses and architects per square mile than anywhere else on the planet, making it truly one of the most important design hubs in the world. To celebrate this rich and diverse community, Clerkenwell Design Week has created a showcase of leading UK and international brands and companies presented in a series of showroom events, exhibitions and special installations that take place across the area. CDW has firmly established itself as the UK’s leading independent design festival and annually attracts the international design community to this small area of London for three days of exciting events. In 2023, the design community flocked to Clerkenwell with over 37,000 attendees and over 500 exhibiting brands.

  • A newly renovated three-storey building represents a dynamic blend of history, modernity and Perron's distinctive approach to colour and design. Visitors are first welcomed into a reception area bedecked in HAY lighting, but on the other side is the boutique where colleagues like to collaborate when they’re not working in the downstairs meeting rooms. Arranged like a welcoming salon, it brings together furniture, accessories and folding doors from the European brands Dooor, Gropius Lamps, Hübsch, Sancal and Sowden. #WorkplaceWednesday https://zurl.co/cLzQx

  • Conceived by local architect Cobe, Copenhagen’s recently opened Opera Park is a magical display of trees, shrubs and plants from all over the world, taking visitors on an unexpected journey of discovery. However, its complicated conception and intricate planning lies hidden behind the scenes, much like the work that goes into the acclaimed performances that grace the stage of the neighbouring Opera House, to which it connects. #IconInspo https://zurl.co/iesQ1

  • A low-cost project that derives elements from the region’s popular architecture, the Municipal Toy Library in Dólar is designed to promote movement in children. Located in the Granada province, with a population of only 640 people, this pink project designed by Carlos Quevedo Rojas is positioned so that it forms an arch that is open to the rural landscape at the skirt of Sierra Nevada. #PinkFriday

  • Snøhetta has designed a new state-of-the-art industrial facility for family fishery Holmøy Maritime in northern Norway. Characterised by transparency, light and vibrant colours, the facility is an example of how to invest in the wellbeing of a local community. The influence of architecture and design firm Snøhetta on Norway’s contemporary image runs remarkably deep. #WorkplaceWednesday https://zurl.co/5hXKN

  • In the world of theatre, a set piece is a physical structure: walls, platforms, furniture. Each element exists to define the spatial environment of the performance. Craft is used as a positive political tool, bringing designers from South America, Africa and India to the table, with their own ideas, typologies and processes. You need only look at this year’s Venice Biennale (itself a stage for discourse and discontent), where Indonesian collective ruangrupa’s controversial piece for Documenta 15 laid out the work of over 1,500 artists, curated organically to demonstrate by sheer scale the brevity of creatives that lie beyond the traditional geographical boundaries of art. #IconInspo https://zurl.co/Gb5w

  • Retro interiors, computer games and sci-fi film sets inspired Josie de Guzman and Jess Murphy of Studio Jey to create ultra-cool headquarters for London-based web developer Midnight Agency. The office is located in Netil House, a landmark building in East London that dates back to the 1960s. The open-plan space for the new office features a number of original features – including Crittall windows and a painted concrete floor – and had been recently renovated, offering Studio Jey a blank canvas. #WorkplaceWednesday https://zurl.co/g0Ab
