About us
Policing the Square Mile brings with it particular challenges, quite unlike any other policing area within the UK. The City of London is the world’s leading international financial and business centre. It is an area where disruption to ‘business as usual’ would have significant impact on the diverse range of business interests located here. We are committed to fighting crime at all levels. Although we fulfil a national role tackling fraud and other serious criminality, our local role is no less important to us.

During the festive period, we have stepped up our patrols to keep everyone safe in the City. We’re focused on tackling violence against women and girls. If you feel unsafe at any point, find a police officer or Ask for Angela in a bar, pub or licenced business. Tonight, we are running Op Reframe, dedicated to making you feel safe and being safe.

What a fantastic group of young people. Our last City of London Police youth engagement event of 2024. Inputs on stop search, different staff journeys in policing, cyber safety and defibrillator training. It was inspiring to hear the voices of such a diverse group of young people. I think all the young people loved their Challenge Coins. As always a massive thank you to Julia Von Klonowski for her dedication to the partnership. None of these 2024 youth engagment days would have happened without the remarkable planning and preparation talents of Amy Wright who worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of every event.

As part of his speech yesterday, Security Minister Dan Jarvis announced the pilot Domestic Corruption Unit at City of London Police. We’re excited to lead this pilot which will scope out corruption cases across policing and lead on investigations where they do not fall into the remit of the National Crime Agency (NCA) or Serious Fraud Office (UK). https://lnkd.in/ebx8Ysfc

We’ve seen some impressive results from our work with the NCA to tackle money mules. Under our joint coordination with the NCA, we worked with 13 partners that included proactive crime teams, Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), Trading Standards and Police Scotland. Together, we achieved the following: -76 arrests -43 warrants -Over £810k seized in cash and crypto -153 cease and desist notices issued In London alone, there were 10 x warrants executed, seven arrests and three voluntary interviews. A huge thank you to the dedicated teams at City of London Police and our private industry partners for their critical role in analysing vast amounts of data and intelligence. Their efforts allowed us to disseminate cases effectively, enabling regional law enforcement to take positive action.
🚨We're cracking down on money muling. A money mule is someone who lets criminals use their bank account to transfer money, often keeping a bit for themselves. Find out how we're working with our partners to put an end to this crime in the UK. #DontBeUsed

**Want to apply for one of the most important senior policing roles worldwide?** I’m looking for a Commander to help coordinate the local, regional and national policing response to economic and cyber crime (yes that’s right…50% of all crime!) and to help lead the National Lead Force for Fraud capabilities led by the City of London Police. In this role you will also help lead the UK policing response to bribery and corruption, money laundering, and intellectual property crime. And if you have any free time after that, well don’t worry, there’s plenty of work for you! This is one of the most important roles in UK policing, and one of the most unique, challenging and rewarding. You will be working across government and all sectors to improve services for victims, reducing the threat both domestically and internationally, and disrupting what is the most rapidly evolving crime facing our nation. Come and be part of the City of London Police, on track to becoming one of the most inclusive and trusted police services in the UK, and in my opinion the UK police employer of choice! You’ll also get to work in the City, the UK’s destination city. Be part of a dynamic, diverse and highly progressive chief officer team, that celebrates individualism and will set you up to succeed so that we get the best out of you and more importantly, the public get the very best. During this recruitment process I will provide a live video/web session briefing to break down barriers and give interested persons an opportunity to find out more, meet me and ask questions as a means of attracting a diverse set of applicants. Nik Adams has been appointed Assistant Commissioner following an open recruitment process. Nik was appointed Temporary AC in October 2023, and will now continue to lead all national lead force activity on fraud and cyber crime. Congratulating AC Adams, Commissioner Pete O’Doherty said: “I am delighted to appoint Nik as Assistant Commissioner to lead such an important part of our service here at CoLP. Nik will oversee the coordination of the national policing response to fraud and take forward all our commitments made to government and wider stakeholders, to tackle the impact of fraud, cyber and economic crime.” AC Adams said: “I am delighted to be appointed permanently into the role of Assistant Commissioner. It’s the people within CoLP who make this an amazing place to work, and it’s a real privilege to be part of the Chief Officer Team. My mission will remain to help all of you to be the best you can be, so that together we can do even more to keep the public safe.”

Sixteen people were arrested and two drug lines dismantled during the latest County Lines intensification week. Officers seized cocaine, cannabis, crystal meth and MDMA. Also seized were three knives, an air pistol and £11,700 in cash. City of London Police officers worked in partnership with British Transport Police and the National Crime Agency (NCA) in high-visibility patrols, during an operation at Britain’s busiest railway station, Liverpool Street station.
