  • 🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 We're thrilled to announce the launch of our new initiative following the success of our inclusive storytelling sessions, "Accessible Authors," which engaged over 5,500 young people earlier this year. Our mission is to raise awareness of disability and neurodiversity among young people across the UK, and we're eager to expand this project even further. 📚 Why This Matters: In the UK, there are over 351,000 children with a learning disability, 15-20% of children are neurodivergent, and 11% have a physical disability. Despite some progress, only 3.4% of children's books feature a disabled main character. We believe it's crucial for all children to see disabled and neurodivergent characters in the stories they read. This fosters inclusion, representation, and understanding from an early age. 🤝 How You Can Help: We have a fantastic opportunity to double any funds we raise through match funding from the Cheshire West Community Innovation Fund! Although this funding is Cheshire-based, our project will benefit young children across the entire UK. 🚀 Our Crowdfunding Campaign: Our campaign is live until October 15th, and we need a minimum of 20 backers by September 9th! You can support us in several ways: 👍 LIKE our project ✅ FOLLOW our project 💰 BACK our project – even £1 makes a difference and counts toward our 20 backers! 💛 SHARE this project – spread the word to friends, family, and colleagues Together, we can create a more inclusive and understanding world for our children. Thank you for your support! 📖❤️ #InclusiveEducation #DisabilityAwareness #Neurodiversity #SupportOurKids #Crowdfunding

  • Well done to the R&G Team for completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks last weekend🏔️🏔️🏔️ An awesome team effort and an incredible achievement by everyone involved 💪 Not to mention an amazing amount raised to help support disabled children and young adults. Over £4,000 (including gift aid) and counting! 🙌 To put this into perspective, £4,000 could help us provide up to 4 adapted trikes to help transform the lives of 4 children, who are unable to ride regular bikes, and their families by giving them more freedom to get out and about 🤩 In the words of Filip's mum, Gabriela, this is what it means to them: “I can’t even put into words how happy Filip is since getting this trike. He’s like a different child. We knew that the trike would be great for his physical development, but seeing how much joy and happiness it has brought him as well is amazing. “The pandemic and lockdowns really affected Filip’s mental health and confidence. But since he’s had the trike he’s so much happier and becoming more independent. He’s the smiling, chatty Filip we know and love again." So THANK YOU Team R&G! Your efforts will help #ChangeLives 💛

  • We did it! 🙌 On Sunday we took part in the Chester Business Club's annual charity walk. We slightly underestimated how challenging 6 (apparently more like 7!!) miles in the rain, mud and puddles would be for our youngest team members (aged 4, 7 and 7) 🫢 7 miles and 4 hours without a single complaint from any of them. To say we're proud is an understatement! ⭐💫🌟 When we arrived at the Chester Racecourse to collect their certificates from Chester Business Club we were asked, "Is anyone behind you? Were you on the short route?" WAIT! WHAT?! There's a short route? The kids' response..."Well, we did it properly. We didn't take the short cut!" 💪 If that doesn't deserve a donation or 2, I don't know what does! ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ecQxXtp6

  • We're looking forward to taking part in @ChesterBusinessClub's annual charity walk this weekend 🚶♀️💛🚶♀️ Emma Prescott, Lexi Heselwood, Sharon Cotterill and their families will be setting off from Chester Racecourse on Sunday to raise funds to help support disabled children and young adults with specialist equipment, like adapted trikes, wheelchair powerpacks and sensory equipment! Now it might not be the longest or most challenging charity walk we've ever taken part in. But (and it's a big but) 6 miles with our young children (ages 4, 7 and 7) and teenagers potentially in the rain may well be one of the biggest (or foolish 🤔) challenges we've undertaken! Fingers crossed this weather improves 🤞 Wish us luck! And if you'd like to show your support and make a donation we'd be very grateful! Thank you 💛 Check out our fundraising page ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ecQxXtp6

Last night, I had the pleasure of presenting Children Today Charitable Trust with a cheque donation in advance of the CBC's charity walk in September. Children Today help children and young people with disabilities across the UK. By providing vital, specialised equipment to families in need, they aim to help give these children more independence and the best possible quality of life as well as help minimise social isolation and improve their physical and mental health. I had plenty of opportunity to talk with both Emma Prescott and Lexi Heselwood from Children Today as we tucked into a delicious Chinese banquet during Chester Business Club's AGM at The Slowboat, last night. As a Club, we work hard to support as many local charities as possible, and it was fantastic to see some of those fantastic Chester-based charities receiving donations last night. If you would like to get involved with Chester Business Club, why not come along to our Clay Pigeon Shoot on Friday 12 July 2024, from 1:30pm at Catton Hall.
