As we age, managing multiple medications can feel difficult. We’re inviting local residents to a free, friendly workshop focused on improving conversations around medicines and regularly reviewing what’s best for each individual. If you know of anyone living in North East London, aged over 65 and prescribed medicines or people who care for someone that does, please share this opportunity. See poster for further details.

“This groundbreaking initiative allows us to explore how cutting-edge technology can reshape adult social care. We look forward to delivering insights that will guide its adoption and scale-up, empowering citizens and care teams alike.” James Sinclair comments on our involvement as an evaluation partner for this project led by WM5G, in collaboration with Coventry City Council, Birmingham City Council and City of Wolverhampton Council to support over 1,000 citizens with advanced technology in their homes, including specialist care technologies and voice-activated devices. Rethink Partners has commissioned us to lead the evaluation of this programme, delivering impact, process and economic evaluations across the participating cities and support robust business case development with our partners 4OC for them to develop evidence-based blueprints for future adoption. By examining factors like staff confidence and training and uptake rates, our evaluation will offer crucial insights into scaling TEC solutions and promoting efficient, independent living models for adult social care. https://lnkd.in/gYaiEWs2

At Care City, we’ve seen firsthand the power of community-driven solutions to address fuel poverty. Supported by Cadent Foundation, our initiative brought together local partners and residents to co-design impactful solutions tailored to their needs. Key outcomes include: - Practical Support: Distribution of fuel vouchers, slow cookers, and blankets. - Building Connections: Hosting Winter Support Community events to encourage social ties and share resources. - Empowering Residents: Improved access to services like grants, mental health support and energy-saving advice. Through collaboration, we’ve supported vulnerable households in staying warm, reducing bills and improving their health and resilience. Great to see this collaborative scoping review on health visiting for children under five, now published in Primary Health Care Research & Development. https://lnkd.in/gHHbK7Ag This review explores key priorities for improving services, with insights from parents and professionals, highlighting how health visiting supports families, the challenges faced, and what’s needed to better understand its impact. At Care City, we were proud to undertake consultations with parents, ensuring their voices and lived experiences helped shape the study’s priorities. We’re thrilled to have been commissioned by Rethink Partners to act as the evaluation partner for this revolutionary new Technology-Enabled Care (TEC) project led by WM5G in collaboration with Coventry City Council, Birmingham City Council and City of Wolverhampton Council. Funded by Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) under the 5G Innovation Region (5GIR), this project will bring advanced technologies—including sensor devices, specialist care technologies and voice-activated devices—into the homes of over 1,000 citizens. Our work will include impact, process and economic evaluations, providing actionable insights to scale these innovations and support independent living. By examining staff confidence, training and technology uptake, we aim to unlock the potential of TEC to: ✅ Improve quality of life and reduce hospital admissions. ✅ Transform the care workforce by equipping teams with tools for truly personalised care. ✅ Build a sustainable, efficient care model for the future. This work builds on our ongoing projects, including: 📍 Partnering with London Borough of Redbridge to implement assistive technology preventing falls among older adults. 📍 Evaluating care technologies in London Borough of Barking and Dagenham to increase confidence and safety for residents at home. https://lnkd.in/gYaiEWs2 #TEC #SocialCareInnovation #5GInnovation #TechnologyForGood James Sinclair, 4OC, Clare Morris, Clare Martin
🚀 WM5G Launches New Era for Adult Social Care! 🚀 the new programme funded by Department for Science, Innovation and Technology is set to revolutionise adult social care in Coventry, Birmingham, and Wolverhampton. By leveraging advanced Technology Enabled Care (TEC) solutions, we’re ensuring better care, efficiency, and quality of life for our citizens. The success of Technology Enabled Care (TEC) in the West Midlands hinges on more than just tech – it’s about a culture shift towards innovation. By proving the adoption and scalability of TEC, we'll revolutionise social care, ensuring more citizens can live independently and safely in the place they call home. Together, we can drive a future-ready health and care system that benefits all. Minister of State for Data Protection and Telecoms, Sir Chris Bryant MP, said: “It’s fantastic to see cities like Coventry, Birmingham, and Wolverhampton being at the forefront of innovation, and – thanks to this government-backed project – being able to harness the power of tech to deliver more personalised services to those who need them most. From providing medication reminders to monitoring heart activity, cutting-edge technology can truly support the health and care of the most vulnerable.” Head over to our news page for the full story, hear from Diane about how the new service has changed how she feels about living in her own home. We’re excited to be collaborating with Rainmaking to help build the Thames Freeport Adult Social Care Accelerator—a bold initiative to transform care through innovative technology. The partnership aims to drive trade, innovation and economic growth, while supporting the local communities of London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, Thurrock Council and London Borough of Havering. Our key focus is adult social care, with the goal of helping people live healthier, more independent lives while alleviating pressures on care services. Earlier this year, we worked with local councils and care providers to identify the biggest challenges in adult social care. Together, we agreed on three priority areas: Prediction: Identifying individuals at risk of decline early. Prevention: Empowering people to take control of their health before issues arise. Supporting Independence: Enabling individuals to stay mobile and manage daily tasks. We’re now entering the next phase—finding global tech solutions that address these priorities and identifying care providers willing to test these innovations. Testing is set to launch in early 2025 and we’re seeking partners to provide test sites and insights to ensure these technologies truly meet the needs of the people they serve. If your organisation is interested in sharing insights into the challenges you face in adult social care and exploring opportunities to test innovative care technologies in your services...please get in touch! Let’s work together to create a healthier, more independent future for those who rely on care services. #SocialCareInnovation #ThamesFreeport #TechForGood #AdultSocialCare Michael Roberts, Kiran Dhillon

“It was a truly delightful event and fantastic to see so many mixed-ability groups coming together and enjoying themselves. A standout moment was seeing Vedika Lall from Care City return to facilitate this event, after attending a previous PowerHouseGames at Goodenough College. It’s a wonderful example of how inclusive sport inspires more inclusion, creating a ripple effect of positivity and participation.” John Willis from Power2Inspire, commenting on our recent PowerHouseGames in London Borough of Barking and Dagenham earlier this month. The event brought together 60 participants from diverse backgrounds, ages and abilities. From adapted games like boccia and sitting netball to the heartwarming pride of a young participant winning her first medal, it was a true celebration of community and connection. If you're inspired to host your own PowerHouseGames, here’s what we learned: 1️⃣ Plan Ahead: Give yourself ample time for logistics and promotion. 2️⃣ Partner Locally: Engage schools, councils and community groups to boost participation. 3️⃣ Build a Volunteer Squad: Managing a large group of young participants needs teamwork!
