We're looking for a public opinion research agency to work with us over the next 5 years, to deliver a series of landmark studies into how the public feel about R&D as a political and societal priority. This builds on our Discovery Decade programme from the last 3.5 years, with the exciting chance to explore new issues, trial new methods, and track trends over time. Our work aims to support the whole R&D sector to convey a clearer and more compelling narrative - to both the public, and political audiences. If your agency is keen to work closely with our team to deliver that goal, then read our Request for Proposal and submit by 09:00 on Tuesday 21 January.

ONS data published this week shows that expenditure on R&D performed by UK businesses was £49.97 billion in 2023. While this represents an increase in cash terms from 2022 and is consistent with annual cash increases in recent years, high inflation means business R&D investment in real terms has fallen in the last two years and was the same in 2023 as it was in 2018.
