Join us for the launch event of Law Review of Construction 2025 - AI in Construction: Transforming the Global Landscape. Our annual LRoC programme begins with a global module where we will delve into the critical topic of artificial intelligence in the construction sector. AI solutions provide unprecedented potential to enhance operational efficiency, improve productivity and profitability, streamline project management, and gain a competitive edge. Knowing how and when to deploy this new technology and the associated benefits and potential challenges will be vital for everyone committed to the future of the construction industry. Our panel of industry experts, Catherine Workman, Nils Rauer, Nora Legittimo and Mark Coates will explore: ·      How is AI technology being put into practice in the construction industry today and what can we learn from adoption in other sectors ·      To what extent have these tools worked, and to what extent do we still face standardisation challenges? ·      In a fragmented and fast changing market, how can we know which tools to invest in? ·      How do AI solutions fit into the regulatory landscape and what are the risks? ·      What are the barriers to adopting AI solutions as quickly as we might expect? Don’t miss out! Register your place here: AI in construction: https://lnkd.in/dU65n2dx.

  • "The capital’s unique powers and structures mean it could quickly establish a framework to deliver a new town, acting as a trailblazer for the rest of the country... "Any new town will have to provide the necessary infrastructure to support a new community, enable a high-density development and become an economically sustainable place. London can deliver against these criteria as well as being of a scale that it could accommodate any type of new town... "That potential is only set to grow as the government updates its National Planning Policy Framework with a view to unlocking previously developed land in the green belt..." ✍ Writing in City AM this week, our Jonathan Seager on why London is the ideal test bed for a new wave of new towns ✍

  • "The reasons cited for black candidates’ lower success rates are both subtle and structural. Companies point to “verbal skills,” “commercial judgment,” and “a lack of polish” as factors that hinder black applicants. "These terms, while seemingly innocuous, often serve as proxies for entrenched biases. They reflect an outdated view of potential that prioritises conformity to traditional norms over the genuine capabilities of diverse candidates. "For instance, accents, mannerisms, and cultural expressions that diverge from corporate norms are unfairly penalised, effectively filtering out talented individuals who could bring fresh perspectives and innovative thinking..." In the latest addition to the BusinessLDN blog, Laura Durrant of the Black Talent Charter outlines why making graduate recruitment processes fairer is as much about commercial strategy as it is about doing the right thing. 🏡 With the Government setting out ambitious homebuilding and growth targets for this Parliament, our latest report makes the case for building at least one new town in London. 🏡 Compiled alongside Arup, DP9 Limited, Kanda Consulting, Volterra Partners LLP and Zack Simons, we highlight how building new towns in the capital could help tackle the city's housing crisis, at a time when recent research from London Councils shows boroughs are spending £4m a day on temporary accommodation. Through the Mayor of London and Greater London Authority, the city has the political frameworks, connectivity and infrastructure needed to get shovels in the ground swiftly. Ahead of an expected update to the National Planning Policy Framework from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government today, and the New Town's Taskforce's call for evidence closing tomorrow, the city also has huge untapped housebuilding potential in urbanised parts of its green belt. Thank you for your expert insights in support of the study Kathryn Firth, Craig Tabb, Karen Alcock, Zack Simons and Ellie Evans.
