South Asians in the UK are three times more likely to need a kidney transplant but represent only 1–2% of organ donors. Increasing living organ donations within this community is vital. Let's raise awareness and discuss #OrganDonation to save lives. 💗 #LivingKidneyDonor NHS Blood and Transplant

Bridging the gap between the NHS & South Asian communities with grassroots campaigns & initiatives in health & wellbeing
About us
Reaching out to diverse groups in the South Asian Community e.g. older generation or those with no or limited English language Building trust within the Asian communities for those who have lost trust with healthcare providers and bridging the gap between the NHS and hard to reach South Asian communities Working directly with the families searching for living donors from NHSBT has had a huge impact on the uptake of organ donor registrations. Being a key promotional driver for stem cell and organ donor drives across the UK for Asian patients waiting for donors Bringing the Sikh community together across all sectors to talk about the impact of lifestyle choices and health and wellbeing We have a number of South Asian nurses on our list that are welcome to assist us on our health promotional drives, as well as us providing support for their professional development. Our campaigns and promotional drives for organ and stem cell donation have increased the stem register with DKMS and Anthony Nolan to approximately 10,000 South Asians. And our organ donation campaigns have supported around 7 families and found donor matches for two families. We have been featured on the BBC Victoria Derbyshire Show, Easter Eye Magazine, MATV, Nursing Standard, Akaal Channel, and Sikh Channel, as well as taken part in conferences and discussions around health, organ donation, and mental health issues that directly affect the Sikh community Our ethos is SEWA - Selfless Service to everyone Finally, British Sikh Nurses have been awarded the 1514th Point of Light Award, won the Royal College of Nursing Leadership Award (2021), and also received an award for outstanding community work from the London Faith and Belief Awards in 2018.

I would appreciate your help with filling out and sharing this survey with your friends and colleagues. I am seeking to understand the reasons for underrepresentation of global majority nurses in organ donation. We serve diverse communities and representation is key in donation and transplantation care and engagement. This is part of a Florence Nightingale Foundation leadership programme. Thank you! https://lnkd.in/eJyvzXGd #nhs #nurses #organdonation #survey #fnf #healthinequalities
