In addition to abortion advice and treatment we provide pregnancy testing, counselling, Sexually Transmitted Infection screening, contraception, and vasectomy through our network of reproductive healthcare centres. We also provide specialist contact centre services to the NHS such as Central Booking Services to speed up access to abortion treatment across a range of NHS and agency providers. We’re pleased to share that BPAS is partnering with The Open University and has secured funding to explore how AI-powered chatbots could improve access to home abortion services. An exciting time for the team in BPAS - Centre for Reproductive Research & Communication (CRRC), who will look at how technology can help ensure that people get the information and support they need, in a way that’s accessible and reliable. 'The project, which is scheduled to run for one year, has the potential to transform how at-home medical abortions are supported in the UK. If successful, an AI chatbot could reduce reliance on emergency services, improve patient satisfaction, and ease the workload on BPAS’s aftercare support teams. BPAS also plans to share the findings with other UK abortion providers, potentially leading to sector-wide improvements in abortion care.' You can read more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/egdUJNhe We’re looking forward to seeing how this work develops and how it might benefit those who rely on our services. #HealthcareInnovation #BPAS #DigitalHealth #britishpregnancyadvisoryservice #abortioncare #abortion #research #AI #chatbots

For ten years, people across BPAS have been fighting for new law to protect our patients and our staff from harassment at the clinic gate. This week, this new law came into force. It's a victory for every one of our staff who has ever cared for a patient upset by what's happened to them outside. This video shows the journey, and the commitment of everyone involved in this campaign. #thejourney #safeaccesszones #bpas #abortion #britishpregnancyadvisoryservice #healthcare

🎉 Safe Access Zones are here! 🎉 Starting today, all abortion clinics in England and Wales will be surrounded by 150-meter protection zones, ensuring safe, harassment-free access for everyone. This win took years of hard work, and we couldn’t have done it without YOU! 💪💜 Here’s to progress and to supporting everyone’s right to safe, dignified care. Thank you to all our supporters! A Hard-Won Battle The journey to this historic moment was not easy. The campaign for Safe Access Zones, led by BPAS’s “Back Off” coalition and joined by countless allies, began nearly a decade ago. Despite widespread public support and powerful endorsements from organisations like the The Royal College of Midwives (RCM), the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists | RCOG, and many others, the push faced numerous roadblocks. In October 2022, a pivotal vote in the House of Commons saw MPs supporting the legislation 297-110, underscoring a national demand for these protections. Still, implementation faced delays, with the law finally passing in May 2023 but remaining stalled until last month. On 18th September 2024, the Home Office announced that the law introducing Safe Access Zones around abortion clinics will be brought into force from today - two years after MPs voted to support this legislation. Over the years, BPAS and its allies have documented thousands of harassment cases outside clinics - heartbreaking stories of individuals being followed, filmed, or confronted as they sought safe, legal medical care. Thanks to your voice, and the collective will of MPs across party lines, such harassment will now be a thing of the past. Around the UK This movement extends beyond England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland also recently took steps to ensure the safety of those seeking and providing abortion services. Northern Ireland became the first to pass Safe Access Zone legislation in September 2023, establishing 100-meter buffer zones around clinics to protect patients and staff. Scotland joined the movement this October, creating 200-meter zones around abortion service sites, further affirming a UK-wide commitment to safe and private access to care. #SafeAccessZones #AbortionRights #ReproductiveRights #BPAS #britishpregnancyadvisoryservice

October is Menopause Awareness Month, with World Menopause Day celebrated annually on 18th October. It’s a time to break the stigma and raise awareness around menopause, its symptoms, and the support available to improve women's health and wellbeing. Each year, a theme highlights key topics related to menopause, and for 2024, the focus is on Menopause Hormone Therapy (HRT). At BPAS, we are committed to supporting our employees through menopause and work. With nearly 6 million of the 33 million employees in the UK experiencing menopause—and with 75% facing symptoms and 70% experiencing increased stress—it's crucial that workplaces provide the right support. #MenopauseAwareness #WorldMenopauseDay #HRT #BPAS #EmployeeWellbeing #WorkplaceSupport
