Kings Chase Shopping Centre This one’s been under wraps (literally) since September, we are delighted with how the elements of this retail scheme have developed to create what will be an amazing upgrade of the centre. Complex structural works, architectural lighting and compliance upgrades, public realm improvements, building fabric maintenance, new modular pods and creative arts have been co ordinated into our programme of works.   Working around the constraints posed by a live and busy shopping centre has meant lots of innovation, sequencing and out of hours work. Our team have lead this alongside a number of specialist subcontractors and designers to deliver something transformative for the centre. We are excited to announce the completion of the Cardiff University Arts & Social Sciences Library. The works included the refurbishment of the two upper floors and three stairwells, paying careful consideration to the in-situ shelving and access requirements of library staff, out of hours. Upgrade the Building Energy Management System, including the removal and redirection of mechanical water supply, from tanks to mains. The renewal of distribution boards throughout, and lastly the production of new footpaths to the library entrance, facilitating library opening hours. The two upper floors and three stairwells have now been given new life, with a fresh redecoration, tiled feature walls, modern shelving end panels, more adequately situated desk spaces and a stunning designed carpet throughout. The new BEMS has provided the client better control over building comfort and will subsequently increase user experience for students and library staff. Lighting and power can now be more effectively managed, with the installation of new distribution boards and adequate circuit labelling. Access to the library has been made safer with new lighting columns and a quality resin pathway, diverted away from local ecology and constructed from approx. 1.5m recycled plastic straws. Our ability to plan, sequence and complete complex works in and around occupied buildings has always been valued by our clients. City of Bristol College have recognised this with the award of the Ashley Down Centre scheme. This multi phased project will see us refurbish over 350 sash windows, improve thermal and acoustic performance via the introduction of secondary glazing and upgrade a number of internal spaces within the college. Paul Weston had a tee-rific day at the Coreus Group Charity Golf Day at The Bristol Golf Club yesterday. Many thanks to Bray & Slaughter for their kind invitation as the team delivering the Yatton Infant School project. Thoroughly enjoyed playing with Grant Jefferies & Will Bryant from B&S & also James Bastable from DKA. We came 4th out of nearly 20 teams but the real winner, the best by par was The Coreus Foundation who raised over £2,500 on the day, then matched this themselves to provide over £5,000 to make a real difference to small communities & charities based around three pillars of Education, Health & the Environment. Also great to catch up with Andrew Clancy of Coreus & thanks to the wider Coreus team that were there on the day to make this an experience to remember - un-fore-gettable in every way!!! #Networking #BusinessDevelopment #MEPEngineering #Charity
