  • We’re proud to announce that, in collaboration with A&B Engineering and MPB STRUCTURES, we’ve installed an externally mounted defibrillator and emergency bleed kit cabinet opposite site our Echo Street site in Manchester. This cabinet will remain accessible to the public following completion of the project, offering vital life-saving equipment for emergency situations.   A huge thank you to A&B for wiring the cabinet, MPB for covering the cost of the defibrillator, and our team for donating the heated and alarmed cabinet, along with the Daniel Bird Foundation bleed kit. This initiative follows a recent experience where we had to use the defibrillator to save a colleague who collapsed on their way into work, they are thankfully making a full recovery. Without the defib being readily available, the outcome could have been very different. We hope this cabinet will provide the same potentially life-saving impact for others in the area in the future. 📸 (L-R) Adam Ross (B+K), Lewis Roylance (MPB), Martin Cragg (MPB), Eleanor Mottershead (B+K), Wayne Fagan (A&B), Adam Thompson (A&B), Luke Kenny (A&B) #communitysupport #emergencyresponse #defibrillator #firstaid #DanielBirdFoundation #construction

  • We can now add gingerbread building to our capabilities! Gingerbread Street Christmas was devised by Oasis Community Housing and our North East team's entry, Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water, caught the eyes of the judges to win the competition. A fantastic initiative to raise funds for a great cause, well done to everyone involved.

So this time last week we attended the Gingerbread Street Christmas campaign for Oasis Community Housing at The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle. We were asked to design and build a Gingerbread home or business that would make a difference to the occupants of Gingerbread Street. I approached our design team for some ideas and Tanja Smith OBE suggested we do a take on the iconic "Falling Water" design by Frank Lloyd Wright (my own fault for asking an architect). So with help from our master baker Kriss, we set about cutting, sticking and decorating our entry "Frank's Place". We were entered into the medium sized plot category and were blown away when we won. Thank you to Roisin Currie, Phil Jones and George Clarke for choosing our design. A great night raising money and awareness of an amazing charity. • 🔨 From T-Level to Degree Apprenticeship: Ellie Lewis’ Journey in Construction 🏗️ Meet Ellie Lewis, a passionate young professional who is making her mark in the construction industry! As an Apprentice Site Manager with B+K and currently pursuing a BSc (Hons) in Construction Management, Ellie’s journey began with a T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning at Cirencester College. For Ellie, choosing a T-Level was a no-brainer, especially as it provided the perfect balance of practical and classroom learning. Here’s why Ellie’s story is a perfect example of the benefits T-Levels can offer: ➡️ Hands-on experience Ellie loved the work placement opportunities that allowed her to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings. Her time on site helped her gain practical skills like using surveying equipment and attending meetings, essential experience for her role as an apprentice site manager. ➡️ Industry-specific knowledge T-Levels are designed to provide a deep dive into industry sectors. Ellie’s course covered everything from material properties and surveying to technical drawing. It gave her a strong foundation in the construction industry and introduced her to different career paths, helping her find her passion. ➡️ Personal growth and confidence As a young woman in a traditionally male-dominated industry, Ellie faced challenges but has been met with strong support from her colleagues at every site. The mix of T-Level training and hands on experience built her confidence and helped her navigate these challenges with resilience. ➡️ Career pathways Beyond technical skills, T-Levels helped Ellie develop critical employability skills like CV writing and interview techniques, which helped her secure placements and career opportunities. ➡️ Future ambitions Ellie is aiming high. After completing her degree, she plans to progress to Assistant Site Manager, eventually working her way up to Project Manager. T-Levels gave her the foundation to build a long-term career, and she’s already on the path to success. Ellie’s advice for anyone considering a T-Level: “I would choose a T-level again 100%. If you’re sure about the career you want to pursue, it’s a brilliant option. Do your research, know what you enjoy, and look into the future career opportunities.” Ellie’s story is a shining example of how T-Levels can equip students with both the practical skills and industry insights to thrive in their chosen careers. Whether you're aiming to work in construction or any other field, T-Levels offer a clear, hands-on route to success. #TLevelswWeek #Construction #WomenInConstruction #Apprenticeship #CareerDevelopment #FutureLeaders #BuildingTheFuture #Education #WorkplaceLearning #WeBuild
