    Founder and Director at Hotbox.

What a great week. Leaning into it and loving to do new things. A pod cast with the fantastic John Savage, Marketing Manager of The Intelligent Collective. Have to say I was quite nervous about doing this but once we got going John made it very relaxed and it was just like having a chat with an old friend down the pub. It's amazing how much of your journey you remember when you take the time to reflect and appreciate where we are. For sure there have been some very stressful times, anyone who has dared to dream, invent a totally new concept and then have to figure out how to make it, market it and supply it globally will relate to this. But with determination and unfailing support (Jude Rothwell) you can do anything. It was also fabulous to catch up with Colin Stuart this week. We first met around 22 years ago when I proudly walked into the Knoll showroom in London with my first samples of Hotbox . Colin was the commercial director for Knoll at the time and he just got it straight away. He's one of those visionary people, willing to think out side the box and come up with people centric workplace solutions that make a difference. Since then we have worked on some great projects together formerly at EC Harris and latterly Baker Stuart Ltd which he founded. We look forward to some exciting new partnerships in 2025. Lastly we are super excited to be working with the talented bunch The Brady Creative on a new campaign, direction and content for 2025. Can't quite promise Jaguar levels of controversy but I'm sure it will be epic.

  • Let's be honest! You benefited the most from changing world of work! Not your employer! This week, our whitepaper explores the reasons why recent companies like Amazon and Boots UK have mandated employees back to the office. It is possible that the reasons offered by multinationals to mandate a return is just an excuse for re-addressing the employer/ employee dynamic. What do you think? Who Really Benefited from the Pandemic's Work Shifts? During the pandemic, flexibility, cost savings, and improved work-life balance became the norm for many employees. T But now, with the push to return to the office, we’re seeing a recalibration. In this month's white paper, we suggest that the pandemic’s workplace benefits served employees more than employers, and the drive back to in-person work might be a redressing of the employee-employer dynamic. As we navigate these changes, what’s clear is that expectations have shifted. Will organizations meet employees halfway in this new era, or are we heading back to the old ways? What are your thoughts on this shift? Are you seeing it in your workplace? #FutureOfWork #WorkplaceDynamics #HybridWork #EmployeeExperience #BakerStuart

  • You don’t want to go to the office 5 days a week! This keeps coming up in conversation and looks like not ending anytime soon. So what do employees want to do? From the thousands of people we’ve asked, overwhelmingly the answer is 3 days a week, followed closely by 2 days a week. This matches the current trend of Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday being the core work days for many. How will this affect the desire for CEOs to have everyone back in the office full-time by 2027? There will be conflict and we don’t know who will win, if indeed there will be any winners. As Harry Hill would say, ‘there’s only one way to find out…..’ We don’t condone any such behaviour, however how this plays out is anyone’s idea…

  • But doesn't everyone want to work flexibly? 83% of CEOs want to see a return to full time office work within the next 3 years! This is according KPMG CEO outlook report in 2023. Our upcoming white paper 'Have we seen the end of hybrid work?', explores this deeper. Our research delves into what COVID promised us as a workforce, who stood to benefit, and the underlying causes behind this shift. Link to our white paper is in the comments!

  • But we all stood to benefit from different ways of working after the pandemic..... or did we? The pandemic reshaped the workplace, and many people now enjoy flexibility, reduced expenses, and improved work-life balance. However, the current shift back to the office may signal a rebalancing of the employee-employer dynamic.
