THE QUIET ROAD LIFE:👷🏻♂️👷🏻♀️🤫🪨🛣️🇬🇧: A section of the A30 in Cornwall has become one of the first in the UK to trial a new technique to make travelling on concrete roads quieter for drivers. In a National Highways trial, the specialist technique has been used by Tarmac, WIRTGEN GROUP and Atmo Technology and has successfully reduced noise by up to seven decibels. In a single-pass process treatment, grooves are created into the existing concrete pavement while grinding is applied onto raised ‘turrets’ on the surface to add texture and improved skid resistance. Road noise is reduced due to a smaller surface area contact between vehicle tyres and the surface, with sound further absorbed by the grooves in the pavement. #concrete #highways #noisereduction #uk Nick Angelou Martin Riley Mario Linnemann Sophie Sadera Guy Barkley Kieran Rafferty Mineral Products Association GCCA – Global Cement and Concrete Association Diana Casey Miles Watkins

PAST & PRESENT👷📅🪨🇳🇴: Norwegian contractor Grønseth Maskin AS purchased its first Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) wheeled loader in 2011, which has clocked an impressive 11,000 hours. Now, it’s supported by the latest model, the ZW310-7, a machine already making its mark in Gjemnes. Oddmund Grønseth started his company at 19, with a tractor and a few ditch-cleaning jobs. Over the years, Grønseth Maskin AS has expanded rapidly. His sons, Kurt and Ole Jonny, run the business today, though Oddmund still operates machinery. He recalls his first Hitachi loader, the ZW310, purchased 13 years ago from Norwegian dealer Nasta AS. “It met our needs perfectly, was well-priced, and has required very few repairs. It’s been incredibly reliable,” he says. “It’s got many good hours left in it.” Despite adding the ZW310-7 to the fleet over a year ago, the company continues to rely on the trusty ZW310. “We need both wheeled loaders,” explains Oddmund. “The 25-tonne size is crucial for loading our trucks effectively, both in height and capacity.” The older wheeled loader remains active at Høgset, while the ZW310-7 supports operations at the crushing plant on Averøya. A fleet of Finlay crushers and screeners are playing a vital role, operating in several locations across Ukraine to process concrete and construction debris left behind by the conflict.
