With public consultation feedback now in, there is overwhelming support for the transformational proposals at London Liverpool Street station! Via focus groups, a series of in-station pop-up sessions and ‘Meet the team’ events, architects and the project team took members of the public on tours around the station to explain the plans. An online public webinar was also hosted where attendees could ask questions of the architects, Network Rail project leaders and heritage consultants. Multiple stakeholder workshops including online and in-person meetings with accessibility and heritage groups have also taken place to get feedback on the proposed new plans to inform the design process going forward. A huge thanks to all the efforts of the project team to date! ACME reposted this
Ad | Architecture studio ACME has designed a stepped luxury apartment block coated with teardrop aluminium panels, shown in this video produced by Dezeen for property developer Regal. Titled The Haydon, the high-rise complex is located in London's Aldgate neighbourhood. The building is situated in The Minories, an area with a rich history dating back to Roman Britain. The area previously served as an industrial and meatpacking district. ACME referenced the site's industrial past for the building's exterior, incorporating elements reminiscent of the metal chainmail aprons and gloves once used by workers in the area.

London's Liverpool Street Station, the busiest rail station in Britain, is long overdue for a transformation. With the addition of the Elizabeth Line, this central transport hub now connects over 100 million people annually. ACME is working with Network Rail Property and a large multi-disciplinary team to bring forward new proposals for Liverpool Street Station. The new scheme is based on a thorough understanding of the operational needs of the station and its historic significance. The original 1864 station and its 1991 reconfiguration are remarkable for their cathedral-like concourse and train shed, and the new concourse roof extends this language into the 21st century. We aim to improve commuters' day-to-day lives and future-proof the station for decades to come. We’re delighted to be part of this transformative journey, working closely with Network Rail to deliver designs that honour the station’s heritage, enhance passenger connectivity, and create a sustainable, modern workspace above. The restoration of Folkestone’s Leas Lift is one step closer with Apex Contractors Limited's appointment as the principal contractor. Apex will now work alongside the Leas Lift project team to prepare the site for construction! "ACME is delighted that work on the Leas Lift restoration project will soon begin on site, following the appointment of contractor Apex. We will continue our work leading the design team, initially coordinating the design from Apex's specialist subcontractors in parallel with site preparation before construction begins in earnest in early 2025." Mark Broom, Associate Director- ACME Folkestone has a rich history and numerous tourist attractions, including the Victoria Pier, the bathhouse, switchback roller coasters, and funicular railways that connected the high street along the cliff top to the seafront. The Leas Lift, constructed in 1885 for the Folkestone Lift Company, is one of eight water-balanced cliff lifts remaining nationally. It achieved Grade II listing in 1989 and was upgraded to Grade II* in 2016. The campaign to save the Grade II* Listed at risk Leas Lift – a nationally significant heritage asset – began in 2018 when volunteers came together to save the lift and ensure its future. ACME's scheme restores and improves accessibility to the lift and creates an extension to the lower station, providing a new café and WC facilities. This is an important part of the business and audience development plans to build a sustainable future for the heritage asset to support its future maintenance. The extension's design restores a sense of the original symmetry and ensures it is subservient to the Leas Lift to maintain its visual primacy. https://lnkd.in/eDuXc3fi The National Lottery Heritage Fund Folkestone & Hythe District Council TEAM: Client: Leas Lift CIO Architecture & BRPD: ACME Project Manager: AtkinsRéalis QS: b&m | Certified B Corp Planning Consultant: DHA M&E Engineering: RCDC Civil & Structural Engineering: Rapid Consulting Heritage Architect: Malcolm Fryer Architects Heritage Consultant: Heritage Architecture Ltd Interpretation and Activity Planner: Alix Slater Consultancy & Training Ltd.
