In some places, like parts of the US, it’s illegal for employers to ask about your previous salary. If that’s the case, you can politely decline to answer or even reconsider the application. ➡️ If it’s legal to ask, you’re still not obligated to share. Instead, explain that your previous salary isn’t relevant because this role is different. ➡️ Focus on your expectations. Share a salary range that reflects the responsibilities of the new role and aligns with market standards. ➡️ Make it a conversation.
