Excited to share a glimpse from the National Careers Event hosted by Ihsaan.fosis at UCL! 🎥💡 It was an honor to speak to young people about financial literacy and introduce them to the work we do at Urban Rise. Seeing their engagement and curiosity reminded me why empowering the next generation with essential financial skills is so important. A huge thank you to Abdullah Faheem for welcoming us and creating such an inspiring space. If you’re planning a keynote, event, or workshop on financial literacy, we’d love to partner with you! Let’s join forces to empower and educate young people.💡💼 #FinancialLiteracy #YouthDevelopment #UrbanRise #CareersEvent #EmpoweringYouth

Well, this is an award I didn’t see coming! Honoured and humbled to share that I’ve been selected as one of the 100 Top Inspiring Muslims: Next Generation in the UK by The Aziz Foundation and Emerald Network. This recognition is a true privilege. As many of you know, Urban Rise is deeply rooted in the community, and that’s where our focus will always remain. We’re dedicated to uplifting and empowering those around us, and this award is a reminder of the impact we can create together. Trust me, we are just getting started. There’s so much more work to be done in the financial literacy space. A big thank you to the organisers and staff of both The Aziz Foundation and Emerald Network for making this event possible and for celebrating the contributions of so many inspiring individuals I met yesterday. It’s even more beautiful when you win an award with a close friend and you randomly bump into them. Faris Elsayad 🤝🏽

Imagine having less than £100 in savings - that’s the reality for 22% of UK adults. This is why financial literacy isn’t a luxury - it’s a necessity. At Urban Rise, we want to change this narrative. Our mission is to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to take control of their finances. Last week was a powerful week—my journey with politics has been exciting. What would I do to sit down in that same politics classroom today? My days of studying politics at A-levels is were I learned a lot but also lost hope. My passion died due to the current state of politics in 2016, anyone remember Brexit? 🤦🏽♂️ What brought me back was the random encounter at my university, hearing Mete at student led conference, which led to finding out about the work and the remarkable team at MLMS. Today: A staggering 4.3 million young people are not registered to vote. Recognising this gap, MLMS Shape History, and #iwill joined forces to produce the most significant and impactful campaign. On National Voter Registration Day (NVRD), we mobilised an incredible 113,000 young people in just one day. I'm honored to have been a part of the youth steering committee, working alongside many changemakers to shape this initiative every step of the way. NVRD was indeed a day to remember, not just for the numbers but for the spirited collaboration it represented. What a war room it was. 75 different media coverage, 150,000 people overall registered and apx 2 million impressions.‼️‼️‼️ To end the week on a high, I was on a panel where I had the privilege of discussing democracy and the issues closest to my heart on a panel with Dan Lawes Jack M. Zoë Jessica Dawson Kwajo Tweneboa But the Job isn't finished—Give An X continues. If you want to join the movement, contact Dan Lawes, the man himself.

"What is your most critical issue in the upcoming election? Is It the environment, cost of living, housing, education, or perhaps our public services?" This past Wednesday, I explored this question during a panel discussion focused on young people's priorities in this year's election. Hosted by Isobel Bruce the panel featured a stellar lineup, including insightful contributions from two young stars from Barnardo's SEEN programme, guided by Ghino Parker the director of SEEN and Leonita Metaj who shared valuable insights throughout the discussion. Cllr Mete Coban MBE, councillor of Stoke Newington & CEO of MyLifeMySay (MLMS). If you need to become more familiar with MLMS or Mete impactful work, it's time to catch up! Also, Lily Mott the founder of the Be the Change podcast and a fellow MLMS squad member, brought her infectious energy and powerful insights to the panel. I recently became a fan of her fantastic podcast and am thrilled to have been featured as a guest. A massive thank you to Barnardo's and MyLifeMySay for their unwavering commitment to empowering the youth. During the discussion, I shared insights from my work with Urban Rise, focusing on the critical issue of the cost of living that impacts everyone, not just young people. This problem surrounds the lack of financial literacy and the mental health effects of the cost of living crisis. This is the issue I'm most passionate about. What about you? Share your thoughts in the comments below 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾 Thank you to everyone involved for an unforgettable and thought-provoking evening.

🌟 Another Award from University of Greenwich 🌟 I am thrilled to share that I have been honoured with the Rising Star award by the alumni team. The alumni team had an incredible opportunity, which was their crowdfunding platform. If I'm being honest I was hesitant at first, but thanks to that little voice in my head that said, "Why not?" I decided to take a chance. This led to me meeting and gaining the invaluable support of the alumni team back when Urban Rise was still a project and not a business. They held me raise £845. This, alongside the £500 from the enterprise challenge, funded Urban Rise's first-ever public event. After the success and impact of the event, I decided to stop calling Urban Rise a project and pushed me to register and start taking it more seriously. I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support and guidance provided by the alumni team. Especially Minh Lam & Sophie Hassell-Richardson. I look forward to continued collaboration and support in my endeavours. Partnership soon, maybe Doctorate in the future? Who knows what the future holds between me and University of Greenwich just know this won’t be the end of it…
