Growing up, I was inspired by my mother, a care worker who built her own business from the ground up—a story that shaped my passion for commercial law. Despite my determination, I struggled to secure interviews and felt held back by imposter syndrome. Through the 10,000 Black Interns programme, I completed a six-week internship at one of my top firms, where I gained not only experience but the confidence to succeed. That opportunity led to a training contract at an elite US firm in London, turning my dream of becoming a solicitor into reality. The 10,000 Interns Foundation has launched the careers of over 7,000 Black university students and graduates across 35+ industries since 2020. By Summer 2025, we aim to empower 10,000 to embark on rewarding career journeys across all sectors – but we need your help to get there. Your support will fund 3,000 more internship opportunities, comprehensive training and mentorship, and offer financial assistance to prospective interns in need, ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity to participate. About us
The 10,000 Interns Foundation is dedicated to championing underrepresented talent across UK industries, with a focus on creating equitable opportunities for Black students and graduates. Originally founded in 2020 as the 100 Black Interns initiative by Jonathan Sorrell, Michael Barrington-Hibbert, Dawid Konotey-Ahulu, and Wol Kolade, our mission is to address the underrepresentation of Black talent in the workplace and help individuals succeed in their careers. Through our paid internship programme, we aim to increase access to meaningful opportunities, while also driving change in recruitment practices to ensure they are more inclusive and equitable. We support Black talent by providing training, mentoring, and a powerful network of industry leaders, alongside using data-driven insights to create impactful interventions informed by the lived experience of Black professionals. In just four years, we have partnered with over 700 leading UK organisations, delivering 7,000 paid internship opportunities and empowering 65,000 students and graduates. Our vision is a workplace that truly reflects the diversity of talent in society, with a future where Black talent is no longer underrepresented but is at the forefront of British business. The 10,000 Interns Foundation is more than just a programme—it's a movement that is unlocking the potential of diverse talent to transform industries and drive lasting change.

I first became fascinated by FinTech during my second year studying Finance. Thanks to the support of the 10,000 Foundation, I secured a degree apprenticeship in InsureTech, working for an insurance company in the growing bulk purchase annuity market. It’s been an amazing journey so far, and I’m so grateful for the opportunities that have helped me get here. The 10,000 Interns Foundation reposted this
We recently hosted an Insight Day in London in partnership with one of our EID partners, The 10,000 Interns Foundation. The event featured a career panel with Toju Adeneye, Alexander Gitnik, Nathan Cefai, CFA and Frederik Repton, followed by a CV and interview workshop with our Head of Recruitment in EMEALA, Ben Picking. The speed networking session was an event highlight, helping the students refine their professional engagement skills before Tamesha M. Forrest, MBA shared inspiring closing remarks. Thanks to all who joined us for the event as participants and volunteers. We look forward to the next Insight Day!

I’m passionate about science and love bringing ideas to life through creative storytelling. One of my biggest challenges was navigating career paths that felt disconnected, struggling to bridge the gap between my diverse interests. Through the 10,000 Black Interns programme, I’ve realised my degree isn’t the end destination—it’s the key that can open countless doors. This experience has broadened my perspective and given me the confidence to explore new opportunities that align with my passions. Music has always been my passion, from jamming with my little brother as a kid to still making music today. But breaking into Asset Management felt impossible with my lack of experience. Yet, the 10,000 Black Interns programme gave me a chance to shine, proving my worth and overcoming self-doubt. This opportunity gave me a foothold in my dream industry and the courage to help others find their own path to success. I'm a proud south London girl raised by a community that always encouraged me to find my voice. But even after landing a permanent role through my internship through the 10,000 Black Interns programme, self-doubt crept in. Did I really belong? I thought I'd conquered those feelings, but the challenge was realising they might always come back. Now, armed with a support system and a healthy dose of self-reflection, I'm ready to face any doubts head-on. I'm grateful to 10KBI for helping me build the life I've always dreamed of. And I'm here to tell others: move with confidence, knowing your dreams are attainable, and you're not alone in the journey. Q5 are a brilliant example of a pioneer partner, an organisation that uses their expertise to support us as an organisation in really tangible ways. This year, Q5 not only supported our senior leaders Rebecca Achieng Ajulu-Bushell and Nana Campbell re-develop the Foundation's operating model, but also provided crucial research support to Nana Campbell in writing our inaugural impact report. It's partnerships like this that sustain our work and help us grow. Special thanks to Jim Dobel Claire Hamlin Daniel Levy Ellie Harris!
🤝 Day 8 of 12 Days of the Q5 Foundation 🤝 You can't do it alone. Real societal change takes an army of changemakers. We're proud to be directly working on major systemic challenges like extreme poverty with The Big Issue and workplace inequalities with The 10,000 Interns Foundation. This year, we partnered with The 10,000 Interns Foundation to provide pro-bono organisational design support, enabling their team to align with their new strategy. We also conducted research and analysis for their inaugural Impact Report, The Future Will Look Different. The report highlights progress made and the work still needed to achieve better representation of Black talent in employment. Together, we can drive meaningful, lasting change. Growing up with few educators who looked like me or shared my experiences led to self-doubt about my ability to teach and support students. But through the 10,000 Black Interns programme, I discovered I could make a real difference in this field. My internship at UCAS opened my eyes to the behind-the-scenes work of access and participation in higher education. Now, I'm working to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in university, ensuring all students have the opportunity to thrive. I'm proud to be part of a system that empowers the next generation. From a young age, I’ve been driven by one question: How can I make things better? This mindset shaped my journey from studying art and fashion to developing innovative care solutions for children in need. Through the 10,000 Black Interns programme, I gained invaluable experience with the NHS, contributing to historic projects like the "Long Term Plan" and strengthening my vision for my own care initiative, the Karikari Foundation. This experience gave me the clarity, momentum, and confidence to believe in my mission—and to know I can make things better.
