We are happy to take part in the Asia Insurance Forum 2024, organised by the Insurance Authority. Our CEO for Global Insurance, HSBC, Edward Moncreiffe , participated in an engaging panel discussion on “Insurance Solutions in Wealth Management”. Moderated by Professor Anna Wong from the Insurance Authority, the session brought together esteemed industry leaders, including Mr Andrew Fung of Henderson Land Development Company Limited, Phil Witherington from Manulife and 周成岗 CG Zhou of CPIC Investment Management (H.K.) Company Ltd. Together, they shared diverse views on wealth management, spanning asset owners, asset managers, distributors and manufacturers. It was a meaningful exchange of industry insights, highlighting the evolving role of insurance in shaping wealth management solutions and driving further growth within the industry in Hong Kong.

William KN Chan, our Global Chief Investment Officer and Head of Investment, recently attended the 2024 Private Markets Conference: Navigating the Future, organised by HSBC Global Private Banking. Joining a panel discussion with Hans-Jörg Baumann, Chairman and Partner of Private Debt, StepStone Group and moderated by Jan-Marc Fergg, CFA, Global Head of ESG and Managed Solutions Global Private Banking, HSBC, William commented that as long-term investors, insurers are well poised to invest in private credit for its return and low volatility. As an asset owner, HSBC Life has USD130bn of investment assets and over USD13bn of investment-linked assets in Asia and internationally. William stressed that asset allocation strategies must be based on a return on risk comparison.
