    【CLP Power’s Energy-Saving Competition Inspires Creative Youngsters to Design Solutions to Improve the Lives of Disadvantaged Communities】 To increase young people’s awareness of sustainable development and social responsibility, CLP Power launched a new programme Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Future this year and organised Energy-Saving and Low-Carbon Innovation for Tomorrows Competition in partnership with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Hong Kong. The competition’s finals and award presentation ceremony were held on December 14. The Competition attracted entries from more than 90 teams from higher educational institutions, who were challenged to improve the lives of disadvantaged people and the community at large by designing practical solutions. Team U14, formed by students of City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and The University of Hong Kong won the Gold Award in the Undergraduate Category. Team SD56 from Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology and Youth College won the Gold Award in the Sub-Degree Category.     【CLP Power Signs MoU with PolyU to Nurture Electrical Engineering Talents and Promote Innovative Technology for Advancement of Hong Kong Power Industry】 CLP Power and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 11 December, joining forces to cultivate electrical engineering talents in Hong Kong that meet the needs of the power industry’s development. Witnessed by Prof. Christopher CHAO, Vice President (Research and Innovation) of PolyU, and Mr Joseph LAW, Managing Director of CLP Power, the MoU was signed by Prof. CHUNG Chi-yung, Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Chair Professor of Power Systems Engineering and Director of the Research Centre for Grid Modernisation of PolyU, and Mr Paul TOMLINSON, Chief Operations and Transformation Officer of CLP Power. This collaboration marks a significant step for CLP Power and PolyU in advancing education and fostering innovative research in electrical engineering. Both organisations will leverage their respective strengths and expertise to contribute to the cultivation of talent and technological development of the power industry in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA). They will utilise advanced technologies, including the metaverse, immersive virtual environments, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) to jointly develop innovative digital training and learning materials for students and the industrial practitioners. Students from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at PolyU will be offered the opportunity to experience the real working environment of the power industry. This exposure will help them understand the industry’s operations and latest development, thereby enhancing their integrated skills in both theory and practice. Both organisations will also explore opportunities for academic and research collaboration.

    【CLP𝘦 Teams Up with CNOOC to Provide Clean Maritime Fuel in Greater Bay Area】 CLP𝘦, a wholly owned subsidiary of CLP Holdings Ltd., entered into a Cooperation Framework Agreement with China National Offshore Oil Company Guangdong Water Transport Clean Energy Company Limited (CNOOC) on 25 November 2024 to form a joint venture to provide liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel bunkering services to ships in Hong Kong and ocean-going vessels. This collaboration will support the development of the LNG fuel bunkering sector in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and further consolidate Hong Kong’s position as a leading international maritime centre. “CNOOC’s capabilities will help us expand our energy solutions business in the GBA and deliver the best technologies and services to LNG fuel bunkering customers,” CLP Holdings Limited Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Mr T.K. Chiang said. Their remarkable property, AIRSIDE, is a beloved destination for pet owners and a shining example of low-carbon innovation. NFPM has deployed various smart solutions for energy saving at its managed shopping centres such as AIRSIDE, The Mills and MOS Centre. At AIRSIDE, a beloved destination for pet owners and a shining example of low-carbon innovation, innovative filtration has been implemented in the central air-conditioning system to enhance air quality in the shopping arcade.  By integrating an IoT Hub and AI, they have also achieved impressive reductions in fan power consumption by 23% and 38% at The Mills and AIRSIDE respectively, optimising energy usage and providing clean, fresh air for mall visitors and their pets. Plus, with the rising popularity of Electric Vehicles (EV), AIRSIDE offers 850 parking spaces equipped with EV charging facilities for drivers’ convenience.     【Accelerating the Adoption of Electric Commercial Vehicles in Hong Kong】 Hong Kong’s newly registered electric private cars has increased from more than 20% in 2022 to about 70%, ranking among the top in the world. On 26 November, CLP Power participated in the “Accelerating the Adoption of Electric Commercial Vehicles in Hong Kong” seminar co-organised with Business Environment Council . Dr. Saraansh Dave, eMobility Director of CLP Power and other industry leaders joined in an insightful discussion on the operational feasibility, charging infrastructure, economic considerations, and policy frameworks for electrifying commercial vehicles. Mr. Edward Chan, Principal Manager - Logistics & Transport of CLP Power, also shared CLP’s valuable experience of electrification as the first Hong Kong company to join the EV100 initiative, committing to transition over 1,000 of its vehicle fleet to EVs by 2030.     【CLP Power Wins the Procurement Resilience Award 2024】 We are pleased to share that CLP Power has recently won the “Procurement Resilience Award 2024” in the Procurement Success Award Ceremony which recognized the efforts of CLP team in strengthening the supply chain resilience by implementing various initiatives. Commercial & Supply Chain Management team received the award in the gala dinner on behalf of CLP Power. The judging panel, consisted of 17 procurement leaders and authoritative procurement experts from internationally renowned companies, complimented the team for “…strategic utilization of the Know-Your-Counterparty questionnaire and Sanctions Monitoring platform which has significantly improved risk management, setting a benchmark in proactive supplier compliance…”.   The Procurement Success Awards 2024 attracted participants from 25 countries and regions. Companies of various industries and sizes submitted a total of 207 cases for consideration to compete in 27 award categories.
