Why it’s important to develop data tools for logistics and supply chain 📦💡🏭   Automation is a key component in many logistics and supply chain solutions. Therefore, the data tools developed in logistics and supply chain should be geared to support and facilitate the transition towards increased automation.   Mathematical optimisation has been used to solve decision problems in logistics and supply chain for many years. As data have become abundant in many industries, so have the opportunities for optimising and automating operations. Meanwhile, harvesting the benefit from the large amounts of data requires advanced mathematical tools. Without the right tools, operators may well end up drowning in numbers instead. Data tools to enable business change. At NIRAS, we believe that the development of digital tools should be driven by customer benefits. This is why we focus on the development of optimisation tools for decision automation, which we see as the major enabler for business changes in logistics and supply chain.   Read how we approach obtaining clear and quantifiable benefits in terms of lower operating costs, reduced emissions, increased reliability and controlled risks; and learn how decision automation plays well with many developing technologies in supply chain and logistics including IoT, big data, digital twin technologies etc.   👉 https://lnkd.in/gMEfT9R2   #automation #logistics #supplychain #IoT

  • We believe that collaboration drives innovation and creates meaningful impact!🤝 Partnering with companies that are at the forefront of technological advancements enables us to address complex challenges in the life science and municipal industry. Over the past months, we have had the privilege of working alongside and learning valuable information with presentations from three cutting-edge companies: Trojan Technologies, Oxyle, and UV Medico, and it’s been great to explore advanced solutions together that can shape a healthier, more sustainable future. 🔬 Trojan Technologies are experts in UV disinfection and advanced oxidation processes (AOP). Visiting our offices, they presented their solutions for treating water in industrial and municipal applications. Their insights into selecting the right UV systems and using UV for trace contaminant removal showcased how precision engineering can deliver cleaner water and safer environments. 💦Oxyle’s catalytic technology offers a groundbreaking approach to destroying PFAS, including both long- and short-chain compounds. Their versatile solutions - from soil remediation to industrial wastewater treatment - highlight how sustainability and compliance can go hand-in-hand, with energy-efficient systems that aim to meet stringent regulatory standards. 💡UV Medico are pioneers in cleanroom UV technology and demonstrated how far-UVC light can deactivate pathogens without harming humans. Their adaptable installations - whether in airlocks, booths, or overhead units - hold transformative potential for healthcare, air quality improvement, and beyond. The exchange of knowledge and ideas like what each of these companies brings to the table is a great feeling to be part of and highly appreciated by our teams. By sharing expertise and pushing technological boundaries, we’re collectively advancing toward safer, cleaner, and more sustainable life science solutions👏 Thank you, Trojan Technologies, Oxyle, and UV Medico, for your partnership! #LifeSciences #municipal #InnovationThroughCollaboration #CleanTechnology #EngineeringExcellence

  • When your graduates go that extra mile 💪 Team 8 and 9 from the NIRAS Life Science & Food Graduate Programme, which has been running since 2016, recently completed a LEAN module in the Netherlands, where they were sent to assist a Dutch company, Bejo Zaden, by using Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and Kaizen to improve the process. In the process, they created a series of solutions for Bejo, which will be taken further by the company to implement some of them – so not only did our 10 graduates gain a deep understanding of LEAN processes and the underlying philosophy via the customer case work they did, they also gave back to Bejo some new perspectives on how to make production processes leaner🤝 Bejo Zaden is a leading company in the breeding, production, and sales of vegetable seeds, known for its innovative approach and commitment to quality🌱 The training was conducted by Jolmer Nieuwkerk from NIRAS in the Netherlands, and it’s been an exceptionally rewarding week for our graduates, both in terms of learning and social interaction🚀 #graduate #graduateprogramme #valuestreammapping #kaizen #lifescience

  • 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗺𝘂𝗱𝗱𝘆 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝘂𝗯𝘀 🥾👨🏽🔬 - Meet Michael Crowley, who started his engineering career setting out foundations and ground works in the rain to now qualifying sterile equipment and process qualification in cleanrooms👋 Since he was a child, Michael has always been interested in how things work, and any moving part of a toy would get dismantled and examined, (sometimes to the frustration of his parents). But that same curiosity was what led him to pursue a career in engineering. After almost 30 years of working as a civil and environmental engineer in first the structural design business and later the pharmaceutical business, Michael decided to pursue yet a different career path. The experience gave him a more nuanced understanding of the dynamics of projects and organisations, and it showed him that a career path doesn’t need to be linear to be fulfilling💡: “𝘔𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘯 𝘶𝘱𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘸 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘧𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦. But upon completing her MSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the university of Sevilla, she was looking to travel and decided to do a stint as an au pair in Denmark. Here, she went on to take a Master’s in Biology from the University of Copenhagen, significantly prolonging her stay, but as she puts it: “𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘋𝘦𝘯𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬, 𝘐 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘵. After Covid, Marina got into the world of pharmaceutical validation, primarily working with medical device, but also software and equipment validation. It sparked her interest and she started taking courses specialising in quality, including a course in ISO 13485 (quality management system for medical devices). From there, Marina progressed to lead auditor and senior consultant, and now, she heads a department of 10 people: “𝘐 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘵.
