International, cross-sector collaboration and public-private partnerships will be critical to mobilising and distributing the funds that will propel the global economy towards net zero by 2050. 🌍 The 15th edition of World Climate Summit in Baku, held on 17th November alongside #COP29, provided a transformative platform for bridging ambition and action on climate finance, biodiversity strategies, and community resilience. More than a thousand key stakeholders from across the public and private sectors spent the full Sunday setting forth the collaborative frameworks that will channel the right funding to the right people and places to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. Our CEO Jens Nielsen delivered an opening speech earlier this week at the "Water is life!" side event in the #COP29 Green Zone. 🌊 Jens highlighted the pivotal role of water in the climate crisis, how climate change intensifies droughts and flooding and harms water quality. He also set out how we can build healthy ecosystems and better water management to reduce emissions and protect against climate hazards, focusing on valuing water in a way that reflects its scarcity and importance, along with protecting biodiversity that absorbs and stores CO2. Yesterday, our Brazil Lead Flora Bitancourt spoke at an event focusing on the 'Innovative Bio-businesses Transforming the Amazon's Economic Model,' held at the Brazilian National Confederation of Industry Pavilion inside the Green Zone at COP29 in Baku.   Flora spoke about how the World Climate Foundation is driving impact in Brazil through Casa COP, running events throughout the next year and engaging with local actors across the public and private sectors in the run-up to COP30 in Belém. She also highlighted the importance of climate capital flows to Brazil and of active listening, social participation, and ensuring that the right stakeholders (particularly from the Global South) are at the top negotiating table in climate and biodiversity discussions. #COP29 #COP30 #Brazil #Amazon #Climate #Biodiversity
