The level of detail is so good that you can read the serial numbers on the 3D model! Creating a quality photogrammetry model of a cell tower is not easy. You can’t get too close to the antennas because of the interference, and the antennas themselves are typically "featureless" -- plain white boxes with minimal detail for good tie points. Plus, the cables are thin and tricky to reconstruct. But with a Phase One camera and RealityCapture, you get this beauty! Of course, the model is being rendered in a web browser using Nira.app. Link to model in comments.

Today, we are talking to Jamie Reford, Unmanned Sales Manager at Phase One. Jamie shares insights into his role, his fascination with the industry, and what he enjoys outside of work. Jamie, can you share a bit about your journey and what led you to your current role at Phase One? My first drone op was in 2019. I was scrambling to complete a Master of Landscape Architecture thesis, and there was no open-source data available for a high-res basemap that was critical to my project. A frantic internet search led me to impulse-buy a used Mavic Pro with the idea that I could map the site myself. I am eternally grateful to the pioneers of the commercial drone industry (you know who you are). These gurus battled through trial and error with hacked solutions and still succeeded in generating useable data. They were also generous enough to share their experience in online forums – providing enough of a blueprint that I could pull off a successful photogrammetry mission with ZERO prior experience. I was captivated with drones from this moment onward and have built a career in the industry ever since. It's been a deeply fulfilling journey to this point. I've made every mistake a drone operator can make along the way. Sharing these insights with Phase One customers and stakeholders is the best part of my day. What fascinates you most about the drone industry? The people. I can't think of another industry powered by such a consistently non-standard workforce. Everyone in the industry seems to bring unique backgrounds and insights, which makes this a compelling and often chaotic industry to be a part of. Collaboration and the success of our customers is key. Can you tell us about an upcoming project or partnership that you are excited about? Absolutely! We recently launched our new P5 payload in partnership with Quantum Systems. The quality and geospatial accuracy of the initial raw data and processed deliverables is astounding – especially given the P5 is small enough to fit in the palm of my hand. Bringing this product to market has been an exciting and rewarding process, and the initial feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive. What do you enjoy doing outside of work to maintain a healthy work-life balance? Exploring the rivers and backwoods of Oregon with my wife. We moved to Portland, OR from Toronto two years ago, and haven't stopped exploring since. Hiking, rafting, and fly fishing never get old. #PhaseOne #career

🌍 Mapping the Future of Conservation in Namibia Over the past few days, the Quantum Systems team ,Andy Butz, Stefan Wurmser and Tetiana Kondratenko had the privilege of traveling to Namibia for our annual KUZIKUS mapping project. Since 2022, we’ve proudly collaborated with the inspiring team at Kuzikus Wildlife Reserve to support their mission of conserving this unique ecosystem. This year, we introduced cutting-edge technology to the project: the Trinity Pro UAV paired with the new Phase One P5 camera. These tools enable us to capture ultra-high-resolution aerial data, critical for mapping and managing this biodiverse region. From wildlife monitoring to habitat management, this work directly contributes to safeguarding the future of Kuzikus and its incredible species, such as the majestic black rhino. A special thanks to Friedrich Reinhard and Berend Reinhard for their unwavering support and leadership in this vital initiative. Your dedication inspires us every year, and it’s an honor to contribute to your conservation efforts. Shotout to Brock Ryder and Andrea Bildenbacher from Drones For Earth for making this year's mission possible. This project reflects Quantum Systems’ commitment to going beyond just providing drones. By empowering impactful projects like this, we demonstrate how innovative technology can drive meaningful change for the planet. For those interested in learning more about Kuzikus or supporting their mission, visit https://lnkd.in/ddtYiyY8 or follow them on Instagram (@kuzikuswildlifereserve) and LinkedIn. Together, we’re making strides toward a more sustainable future! Graz captured at night with Phase One cameras ⬇️
in our recent thermal flight over Stadt Graz we also captured night imagery for the first time with our Phase One iXM-RS150F. Carsten Wieser supported us before the mission and gave recommendations. We are quite satisfied with the result. The acquired imagery will help detect zones of #light_pollution who would like to have a mulled wine (German: Glühwein) 🍷 🔥 on the beautiful christmas market 🎄 of Graz?

This year marks a special milestone for Phase One, celebrating 30 years. It’s also a celebration for Poul Husum, who has been a part of the Phase One team since the very beginning. With three decades of dedication and passion for photography, Poul has helped shape the journey of Phase One and continues to inspire us with his commitment. Today, we get to know a bit more about Poul and his experiences over these remarkable 30 years. Poul, what was it that made you join Phase One, and what has kept you motivated to stay for 30 years? I joined Phase One due to the fact it was a start-up company, a young company with new technology in photography, which is my passion. I got the opportunity to start and shape the Service and Support department from scratch which later motivated me to move on to a sales role at Phase One. I am motivated by the entrepreneurial mindset and spirit, but the most important for me is to always choose the right solution to help our customers and support our partners. What’s one of the most memorable moments you’ve experienced while working at Phase One? The problem is there is not only one! There have been so many incredible moments over the years, for example when we first launched the first single-shot camera, the "LightPhase." It was incredible to see people's reactions when they could view the picture on the screen immediately after pressing the shutter button. Another highlight has been the countless fun and memorable experiences with our loyal users and partners. But perhaps one of the most rewarding aspects has been working with colleagues who have become some of my closest and best friends. These moments and relationships have made the journey truly unforgettable, and I wouldn’t want to miss them for anything! How have you seen the industry and technology evolve since you started? It’s been an incredible journey and it’s not often, that you have the possibility to be a part of an industry where you are the first mover. Phase One changed the photography world by transitioning from film to digital, while maintaining delivering the highest quality. Guided by the belief that the true artistry lies in the hands of the person behind the camera! And now we are also involved in digitization the world heritage which is one of the reasons I continue to be with the company. The opportunity to work with new technology and explore new industries keeps me motivated. After three decades with Phase One, how do you like to spend your free time outside of work? That has changed over the years from skydiving, extreme skiing to more “safe” travel around the world. These days, I enjoy skiing with my family, playing padel, and attending the Danish music festival "SMUKFEST," which I’ve been going to even longer than I’ve been with Phase One. #PhaseOne #career #30YearsPhaseOne #30YearsOfUnparalleledImageQuality
