Om os

EWMA is a not-for-profit umbrella organisation linking wound management associations across Europe and a multidisciplinary group bringing together individuals and organisations interested in wound management. The European Wound Management Association (EWMA) was founded in 1991, and the association works to promote the advancement of education and research into native epidemiology, pathology, diagnosis, prevention and management of wounds of all aetiologies. EWMA works to reach its objectives by being an educational resource, organising conferences, contributing to international projects related to wound management, actively supporting the implementation of existing knowledge within wound management and providing information on all aspects of wound management. EWMA objectives and goals: EWMA works continuously to improve European wound patients’ quality of life. We pursue identifying and advocating the highest quality of treatment available and its cost effectiveness from a multidisciplinary point of view. We work to reach our objectives by being an educational resource for health care professionals working with wound care and prevention. We organise conferences, contribute to international projects related to wound management, actively support the implementation of existing knowledge and provide information on all aspects of wound management. Thus, EWMA strives to be the organisation that citizens, patients, professionals, Governments, Health Services and educational institutes come to for advice, expertise and opinion in Europe. • In a world where research drives innovation, predatory journals undermine trust and quality in science. Predatory journals are an alarming issue that threatens the credibility of scientific research and the advancement of evidence-based care. These unethical publications often lack thorough peer review processes and prioritise profit over quality, putting the integrity of academic work at risk. In the latest issue of the Journal of Wound Management, this commentary discusses the challenges posed by predatory journals and how they mislead practitioners seeking reliable information. Whether you're a researcher, clinician, or student, this is great reading if you want to protect the integrity of your work.🛡️ Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/dCT7m3Ef The authors are Hiwa O Abdullah, Berun A Abdalla, & Fahmi H Kakamad #JWM

  • Pain management is essential for effective wound care, but is the WHO analgesic ladder the right tool for addressing the complexities of chronic wound pain? In a critical commentary published in the latest issue of the Journal of Wound Management, Manuel Gerónimo-Pardo assesses the misapplication of the WHO analgesic ladder in managing pain associated with chronic wounds. He argues that this widely recognised guideline, originally designed for cancer pain, falls short in addressing the unique and complex needs of patients with painful chronic wounds. Chronic wounds present unique challenges, often accompanied by persistent pain that requires more than a one-size-fits-all solution. This commentary highlights the need to rethink and refine pain management protocols in wound care to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
