2024 has been a year defined by passionate collaborations and the determination to achieve what once seemed impossible. Our industry’s reputation as challenging to the planet must change, and we are already taking the lead in that transformation with great partnerships. From the launch of the #AWARE exhibition at the Danish Architecture Center (Dansk Arkitektur Center) to the unveiling of the SAP Garden for Red Bull in Munich—through topping-out ceremonies, construction milestones, and humbling prizes for local and international projects—our mission to make architecture a catalyst for creating a better world for everyone is thriving as we continue to push boundaries and bring meaningful impact to communities worldwide. We would like to thank everyone who has been part of this journey: our extraordinary colleagues across continents and countries, our collaborators, clients, and all of you who follow our work with curiosity. As architects, we have a shared responsibility to design for a world in flux, balancing chaos and order while staying ready for bold change when needed. Let’s redefine what’s possible, together. Happy holidays from 3XN GXN, to all of you. See you in 2025! www.3xn.com

Om os
At 3XN, we believe that buildings are more than the sum of their parts and constantly seek to achieve a synthesis of design, function and context. Our buildings are uniquely matched to each project but always seek to combine beauty and meaning by putting people at the center of design. Designing buildings that are light and connected, ensures clarity and well-being for their users. Our work is founded in ongoing research into how buildings reflect and inform human behavior and the environment – this allows us to advance innovative solutions to contemporary challenges. We constantly seek to enhance a sense of community, identity and relationship to others through beautiful and functional spaces. Research is essential to our design and allow us to push the boundaries of aesthetics and functionality. Each project stands on the shoulders of previous work allowing us to constantly evolve and develop our know-how. As we learn from project to project, we apply this learning in new ways to add lasting value to our architecture and our practice. Today our staff is a mix of experienced project architects and talented young design architects from over 20 nationalities. We work on a global scale but take pride in our history and Scandinavian roots bounded by humanistic values. This allow us to re-invent tradition with a clear understanding of some of the most exciting and pressing challenges of the 21st century.

As a team representing 3XN/GXN, LINK Arkitektur, Sweco, Kristine Jensen Landskab & Arkitektur, Nickl & Partner Architekten and Region Hovedstaden, we are proud to announce that the North Wing (Nordfløjen) at Rigshospitalet has been named one of the three finalists for the Champions Award at the #EuropeanHealthcareDesignAwards (SALUS Global Knowledge Exchange and Architects For Health)! In 2021, the North Wing won the Healthcare Design (Over 25,000 sqm) category, and this year, we were honored to compete against the best projects of the past decade in this prestigious category. Being recognised among the top finalists highlights the impact of innovative, patient-centered healthcare design, and we are thrilled to see the North Wing continue to receive such meaningful recognition. The timber portion of the iconic new Sydney Fish Market roof is now complete, offering a stunning sight to bypassers: With 594 glulam beams - some streching an extraordinary 32 metres in length and weighing up to 7 tonnes, it is the largest roof of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, representing a significant achievement in architectural engineering and craftmanship. Woven into the city’s unique harbour setting, the new Sydney Fish Market promises to be more than just a market: It will become a must-visit destination for food lovers and a celebrated feature of Sydney’s iconic waterfront—a place where the city’s life and culture come alive. It is a shared dedication of all partners involved in the project that is transforming this vision into a reality. The new Sydney Fish Market is proudly funded by the NSW Government, designed by 3XN Architects in collaboration with BVN Architecture, with #GXN leading the circularity efforts, ASPECT Studios on the landscape design and Multiplex handling the construction. Transforming architecture — Transforming knowledge 3XN GXN’s Transformation Team visited London last week to tour and learn from some of the capital’s most significant transformation works. While every project is unique, learning from our peers tackling similar challenges and opportunities is invaluable, and this study trip underscored the importance of collaboration in sustainably shaping our cities for the future. We explored landmark projects such as 3 Sheldon Square, 1 Triton Square, Euston Tower, 30 High, Norton Folgate, and Tower Hamlets Town Hall. Each project reflected a shared ethos: 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙮 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙣 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚. Transformation is bold work—it thrives on 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. A big thank you to our colleagues and collaborators at British Land, Morris+Company, Landsec and #AHMM for taking the time to walk us through their projects and speak to us about lessons learned. #transformation #challengingconvention #collaboration #3XNGXN

Preserving heritage and breathing new life into an ancient urban fabric: Palais des Congrès will be a new cultural contribution to the 2000 year old city Nîmes. A well-preserved site with thousands of years of history is itself a source of inspiration, embodying the rich cultural, social and architectural heritage of a region. Working with our valued partners Chabanne, we have drawn deeply on this heritage to create a thoughtful design for the Palais des Congrès in Nîmes. Our approach allows the identity of the site to remain at the forefront, blending its historic roots with a new structure that stands as a respectful and engaging companion - a modern addition that honours the past while looking to the future. Last week, on 6 December, we visited the site with the mayor. It is exciting to see the building take shape in the beautiful ancient city. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2025. We know a low-carbon future is inextricably linked to a circular economy. But where do we start? It takes innovation, trust, and a long-standing partnership to develop an approach to circularity that contemplates the multiple competing considerations on real projects. We have been collaborating closely with British Land on their journey to reducing embodied carbon. In the spirit of collaboration, British Land is making its Circular Economy Approach, ‘Full Circle, Full Potential’, accessible to all. This report demystifies circularity and outlines a systemic approach that helps project teams assess and analyse materials and building components for reuse at scale. British Land and #GXN will break down key insights and approaches from the report in the coming weeks. Until then, have a look at the full guide here: https://lnkd.in/dwyJcWvY #GXN #BritishLand #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #CarbonTargets #MaterialReuse #Transformation

60 Gracechurch Street approved by City of London Corporation! The project, developed with our partners SELLAR and #ObayashiProperties, was granted planning approval late last week, making it 3XN/GXN's latest London project after The Mark, 65 Crutched Friars, and 2 Finsbury Avenue to get the green light. “We are thrilled for 60 Gracechurch Street to receive approval,” says Audun Opdal, Senior Partner at 3XN GXN. “This marks another great collaboration with the City of London, and we look forward to continuing the work as we bring this ambitious and future-proofed office project to life.” The 36-storey 60 Gracechurch Street will sit on the western edge of the City Cluster, providing over 37,000 square metres of A-Grade office space. The development will also deliver a comprehensive suite of public amenities, evolving how city buildings respond to the Destination City policy. This includes a green, sheltered undercroft space at ground floor, a free-to-access roof garden that offers uninterrupted views looking out westwards over London. The roof garden is supported by a range of public amenities, including a new learning space focused on introducing students to the rich heritage of the city from an unrivalled vantage point.
