🎥 Go behind-the-scenes this December We told you it was coming in July, and now you can see what care at Pet Refuge looks like with our documentary Refuge: A Duty to Care now available on TVNZ OnDemand. You'll see our brilliant team who work tirelessly to help our pets heal, our caseworkers who help families escape and stay connected until their pets can come home, and glimpses of the amazing environment you've helped us create at the shelter. The documentary is already doing its job to help those in need ❤️ Two days after the documentary aired on TVNZ we received a heartbreaking call from Madelyn. After watching the documentary, she realised for the first time that she'd been living in an abusive relationship. She'd always known something wasn't right but had justified her partner's behaviour to herself. Knowing she'd be heard and that there was somewhere for both her, and her beloved dog Rosco, to go gave her the courage to ask for help and we're thankful she's reached out to our caseworkers to plan her and Rosco's escape. Simplicity donates 15% of the management fees it earns to the Simplicity Foundation, which supports some amazing Kiwi charities. Simplicity members pay low fees which helps them save for their future, but they can also feel good knowing they’re helping create a better future for others too. Philanthropy NZ recently spoke to our wonderful Foundation Chair Marisa Fong and Foundation Manager Rebecca Roberts about why giving back is so important.
The Simplicity Foundation is at the intersection between business and philanthropy, showing how organisations can leverage their resources to make a meaningful impact in communities. Simplicity KiwiSaver and Investment Fund members pay low fees which helps them save for their future, and they can also feel-good knowing that Simplicity passes 15% of its management fees to the Foundation which supports some great Kiwi charities. On the charitable side of the table, we also have some very cool news about our latest donation from the Simplicity Foundation, which has formed a long-term strategic partnership with One Percent Collective. One Percent Collective is a unique platform that encourages and facilitates regular charitable giving from income. Members of the collective pledge 1% of income to charity, distributed to approved charities via the organisation. With 700 members, it's donated more than $4.6 million to 15 Kiwi-based charities %) Since its inception in 2016, Simplicity's Foundation has donated more than $9.2 million to charity. The Collective will now be fully funded by the Simplicity Foundation which will amplify charitable giving in Aotearoa. It's a win-win. We are proud that our local trustee Frances Arns will become a chair on the Collective's board. #charitablegiving #KiwiSaver #socialimpact #giving
