Empowering 100+ startups with fraction finance teams 🚀 $500m+ raised by clients | Co-CEO & CFO Partner at Oxygen Advisors

Lets finally get a straight answer to the question, what should I pay myself as a founder! I asked the question a few weeks ago and almost all of the responses were that its tough to know. I'm excited that today Oxygen Advisors is partnering with LiveRem to launch the NZ Founders Salary Report. If you are a founder who wants to know or just wants to help other founders get clarity please get involved! 💡 How do I take part? 1. Sign up to LiveRem (there’s a free subscription) 2. Integrate your payroll or HR data 3. Map your roles (tag that you’re founder) 3. Join the NZ or AU Founders Community in the LiveRem platform 4. Start accessing insights! If you part take before the end of this year, you'll be a part of the first report 🙌 I'll drop a link in the comments on where to sign up!

  • Big shoutout to Chameleon Creator and Groov for their incredible (and free!) contributions to support Mental Health Awareness Week! 💜 It's amazing to see some of our favorite NZ startups coming together to to do epic work! Burnout is a topic especially relevant to the startup community, and it's great to see initiatives like this helping to foster awareness and support.

Chief Revenue Officer @ Chameleon Creator

For mental health awareness week this year Chameleon Creator partnered with Groov to create a free learning module around spotting burnout and steps to prevent it. Highly engaged employees are usually at a higher risk of burnout, as they love their job and give it everything. I heard recently from performance psychologist Dr Jim Loehr, EdD that “big energy spenders also need be big savers”. If you are putting a lot in, you need to be even more deliberate about setting time aside to recharge. Unfortunately most of us tend to do the opposite when things get tough – try to power through, and skip breaks because we're so stressed. One of the helpful mindset shifts for myself as a leader is to manage my calendar to energy levels, rather than time (i.e. jam in as much as possible). I try to be intentional about how I plan my calendar and weekly priorities, to make sure I have gaps inbetween 1-1s, team meetings or customer calls, set time aside for lunchtime walks, and exercise after work. It is so important for the mind and body to have time to relax and refresh. If you've ever worked out with a burned out leader, you know the team suffers if the leader is not feeling well or performing at their best.   Great to collaborate with workplace experts Dr Fiona Crichton, Sir John Kirwan, and Ian Bishop on this module to share some suggestions on dealing with burnout in the workplace. Link in comments, hope it helps your colleagues 😊

  • FY24 marks the second year of our Sustainability Strategy at Oxygen Advisors, and we’re excited to share our journey so far. Here are some highlights: This year, our focus has been on our people. We’ve joined fantastic programs like Hello Period™’s Bloody Good Workplace initiative. Supporting our team is important to us, but we also wanted to make a difference in the startup community we love so much. That’s why we’ve been actively involved with the University of Auckland Startup Club, hosting a pitching masterclass and running the Oxygen Advisors Venture Ideas competition. We extend our thanks to Go Well Consulting Ltd for their ongoing support and for serving as a valuable sounding board throughout this journey. We also want to give a special shoutout to CarbonInvoice™. With their help, we’ve offset our carbon emissions by planting over 600 trees—tripling our efforts from last year! Lastly, a big shoutout to our amazing Oxygen team especially Jacquelyn Rees, Rachel Jenkins, Joanna Paul, Christopher Morgan and Katherine Finstad in our Sustainability Focus Group! Thank you for embracing our sustainability strategy and being open to the changes we’re making to build a more sustainable workplace together.

Big thank you to Oxygen Advisors and Harmoney today. Especially to Katherine Finstad and Mike Mandis, who organised four laptops that are now with Edmonton Primary and Liam Hogg and Shav, who organised the ten screens that we dropped off at Waitakere College. A big day out with Bentley, the delivery dog, being very keen on cuddles from everyone. We still need more laptops for kids in schools, so if you think you or your company could help, reach out at www.thelaptopdrop.nz
