From crew members to franchisees, Rob and Linley Parry have been passionate supporters of families in need for over two decades. For the past 15 years, they’ve been the driving force behind the Rotorua Supper Club, raising over $1.4 million for @Ronald McDonald House Charities through 14 amazing events. To celebrate their efforts, at the 2024 McDonald’s Annual Franchisee Gala Awards, they won this year’s Gold Ronald Award! This recognition is well-deserved for their outstanding contributions as franchisees and their dedication to upholding McDonald's values in the community. “We are deeply honoured to receive this prestigious award. We have been proud to serve our Rotorua community over the last 20 years. We received our first Ronald Award in the 2000s and our second award in the 2010s, so our commitment to our city has been a consistent drive for us. We value the many people and groups we have met along the way.” All proceeds from the Supper Clubs have gone directly to supporting the Ronald McDonald Family Retreats in Rotorua, making a real difference for families with children in the hospital

Macca’s was on the menu at the recent NZ Agriculture and Climate Change Conference hosted by the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre, as part of a group including Diana Reaich, Neal Wallace, Jenna Grieve, and Catherine Langabeer, talking about trade and market drivers for agricultural emissions reduction. Head of Impact and Communications, Simon Kenny, shared McDonald’s global climate action strategy and net zero emissions commitments, how they flow through to New Zealand and some customer insights. Some key points from the presentation: •McDonald’s validated science-based targets initiative (SBTi) 2030 goals include a 16% absolute reduction in farm emissions for beef and chicken •Beef farming is the single biggest contributor to McDonald’s global scope 3 emissions profile •Around 10 percent of New Zealand’s beef exports go to McDonald’s markets, making Aotearoa strategically important when it comes to emissions reduction •Understanding data is a priority, including farm level assessments, annual emissions trends and verifying reductions via SBTi •McDonald’s works across the New Zealand beef value chain to support and collaborate on projects, to contribute towards the global targets •Sustainability and climate action aren’t top of mind for customers, but they want to know that the sector and government are making progress AgriZeroNZ #NZAGRC #AgriZero #MPI #ClimateChange #Agriculture #Tākina #NZACCC24

At the recent 2024 McDonald’s Annual Franchisee Gala Awards, Dave Whalley was named Operator of the Year, with his Riccarton restaurant also winning Restaurant of the Year! 🏆 With 18 years as a McDonald's franchisee, Dave’s leadership and dedication to both exceptional customer service and his community are the perfect example of what it means to live the McDonald's values. These awards recognise Dave’s operational excellence as a franchisee and the outstanding performance of his team, who share his passion for all things McDonald's. "Andrea and I are blown away by the award. We love the brand; it’s a people business that makes burgers. Everything is about people, so my heartfelt thanks go out to our team. The Riccarton store is in my DNA. I opened the store as a manager in 1988, so this award is a huge recognition of a lot of hard work over 38 years. However, more than anything, it’s a huge recognition of our team." Congrats on the double win, Dave and crew!

How do you keep thousands of managers across Aotearoa engaged with training? Ella James, Learning and Development Consultant at McDonald's New Zealand, tells us a bit about how. Ella is one of the longest-serving Macca’s trainers, having been with us for 29 years, with the last 16 in the Learning and Development team. Over the past year alone, 1,400 managers have participated in her courses, and nearly every Restaurant Manager currently in our restaurants has attended one of her classes at some point in their journey. We’ve asked her to tell us a bit more about the behind-the-scenes of Macca’s training. "There’s so much preparation, and our Learning and Development team meets regularly to ensure we’re delivering best-in-class training that meets our managers’ needs. Even after years as a Macca's trainer, I love seeing 'light bulb' moments in class. It’s a privilege to help shape people’s journeys at McDonald’s." A volunteer cooking evening is one of the many ways Kiwis can support Ronald McDonald House Charities, so we invited a few friends of Macca’s to head along to cook dinner at RMHC for the families staying at the Grafton Mews house. Preparing and cooking dinner for families staying at RMHC houses is a wonderful way to support the charity. Ronald McDonald House Charities New Zealand provides a home-away-from-home during tough times, hosting over 4,400 families in 2023 alone across their houses nationwide. A huge thank you to Hannah Koumakis, Oshay Murphy, Ava Wardecki and Win Wolf for helping us prepare a delicious meal for the families at Grafton Mews! Want to help out too? Sometimes, a bit of silly fun is all you need—that's why we've brought the purple to the yellow and blue! Last Saturday was the first A-League NZ derby match between Auckland FC and Wellington Phoenix, so we invited Grimace to drop in while he was on his roadie, launching the Grimace Shake around Aotearoa. Macca’s is the official family partner to both Auckland FC and Wellington Phoenix Football Club, so we wanted to add a little extra fun and surprise the excited crowd of fans. Grimace spent the day hugging football fans, dancing with Nixie, handing out some Grim t-shirts, and just generally having a great time with everyone! More fun things are coming for the upcoming games, so we’re excited to see what the 2024/25 season brings. Simon Kenny Luke Rive Amanda Hayes Emma Rogers

Our Managing Director Kylie Freeland headed into Ronald McDonald House Charities New Zealand Domain House on Friday with the crew from TVNZ Breakfast to have breakfast with the families and talk about this year’s McHappy Day celebrations. Matt Gibb embraced the McHappy Day spirit with some face painting while enjoying his Sausage McMuffin breakfast! There are plenty of ways to get involved and show your support this year, collectable sticker buddies are available to buy (Grimace, Birdie, or Hamburglar) for just $2 each or all 3 for $5. And on November 2nd, $1 from every Big Mac sold will go directly to RMHC New Zealand. Find out more about how you can get involved at: https://lnkd.in/guiC6MxC

How is sponsoring Auckland FC and Wellington Phoenix Football Club a bit like choosing between sweet n sour or BBQ sauce for your McNuggets? There’s no right or wrong choice – some people like one or the other, and lots of people like both 😊 We’re lovin’ having two New Zealand teams in the A League, and excited about the countdown to the first derby. In the meantime, as official family partner to both clubs, our focus is on making the match experience awesome for the football whānau. Here are some examples of how we’re activating around the Phoenix and Auckland FC sponsorships: • We celebrated Auckland FC's first-ever A-League game big time with fun activities and giveaways for fans of all ages to enjoy. Our restaurants around the city are getting behind the team, and celebrating the home grown heroes that are part of the squad. • Wellington Phoenix kicked off the A-League season on home turf with the Pix with the Phoenix augmented reality experience. The popular inflatable football pitch was back, and the Macca’s Junior Nix Zone gives families some of the "best seats in the house”. Free scarves are perfect to wave in the air and get player autographs. And the Phoenix + Macca’s grip socks are proving a hit. • The Macca’s App is also there to offer deals and the chance to grab free Macca’s on the way home after the matches. We’ve been getting kids on the pitch since forever and looking forward to the Kiwi teams carving up the competition in 2024/25. Simon Kenny Luke Rive Amanda Hayes Emma Rogers
