Alex Mckillop of Mckillop Contracting Limited recently welcomed this new addition to the fleet! With over 20 years of hands-on experience as a Dunedin-based owner-operator, he possesses vast knowledge and expertise in the trucking industry.   Operating under the Transport South Island Logistics Ltd livery, Alex, who has previously owned 14 Freightliner trucks along with a smattering of other brands, now owns the best Europe has to offer in Linehaul operations - the Mercedes-Benz Actros. This beauty joins his fleet of six tractor units, servicing Foodstuffs supermarkets across the lower South Island.   Sold and handed over by Tristan Duffell, it is equipped with factory guards and a Jost sliding fifth wheel. Alex has also added his own custom lighting, with help from McCormick Motor Bodies for the stainless work, making the Actros's sleek design pop even more at night.   Backed by a strong relationship with Keith Andrews in Dunedin, Mckillop Contracting is geared up for many more miles of success!

It all started with a special request from Ken, asking us to help surprise his wife, Barbara for her 70th Birthday and the rest is history. Knowing Barbara's deep passion for trucks and the trucking industry, Ken arranged for a one-of-kind gift: a special drive in the flagship of our Mercedes-Benz range, the powerful Actros 630HP GigaSpace! Accompanied by our expert driver trainer, Herbie, Barbara and Ken set off on a scenic journey to Mercer and back. Throughout the trip, Barbara was in awe of the Actros' smooth and commanding performance, and safety features, noting how effortless the drive felt - a true testament to the truck’s incredible drivability and comfort. Herbie provided valuable driver training tips, enhancing the overall experience. To mark the occasion, we presented Barbara with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a Mercedes-Benz cap, both as a keepsake to remember the day. It was truly heartwarming to see Barbara's excitement and joy, and we were honoured to be part of it!
