At Hino NZ, we pride ourselves on supplying a better class of truck to make your working life easier.
About us
We know trucking inside out. Since 1964 Hino has been committed to New Zealand road transport and ancillary operators. We pride ourselves on supplying you with trucks that are reliable, comfortable, safe, and most importantly – make your life easier. Clyde Engineering Ltd truck and bus franchise began distributing Hino vehicles throughout New Zealand in 1964. Imported from Japan, and assembled in Auckland, their first two bonneted 195hp diesel trucks were sold to Rotorua logging operators. Hino Distributors NZ purchased the Clyde Group in 1984. In 1999 we relocated to Palmerston North, and a few years later introduced a new European influenced cab for the medium duty market. Hino Distributors NZ grew quickly, selling its 10,000th unit in 2003. In 2004 the Sime Darby Group purchased Hino Distributors NZ. 2004 also saw the introduction of the Hino 700 Series, completing the full range of Hino 300 Series (light duty trucks), 500 Series (medium duty trucks), and 700 Series (heavy duty trucks) Hino’s dedicated team focus on delivering exceptional trucking service and products throughout the country. Our people are a combination of all things trucking from sales, diesel mechanics and parts people, to engineering and administration. They are selected on their ability to listen and act on your needs, delivering trucking solutions that will complement your business. We have a nationwide network of experienced staff dedicated to offering a full range of 300 Series, 500 Series, 700 Series, and Hybrid Hino trucks. The Hino total support system includes after-sale parts and 24-hour call-out service. With branches from Whangarei to Invercargill we get you safely and quickly back on the road, wherever you are.

This new Hino #500Series GH 1828 4x2 crane/lines truck is due to go into service in Northland for TR Group / Northpower! This unit features 280hp, an Allison full auto transmission, cross-lock axle, and super singles to take advantage of extra capacity of the H/D 7.5T front axle. This spec is especially good for carrying large poles with the extra weight on the front. All sitting on Alcoa alloy wheels, a Sokoza Engineering body, and with a Palfinger New Zealand crane on top, makes for a sharp looking and hard-working unit! Thanks again to TR Group and Northpower for their ongoing support of the Hino brand.

Bashir Ahmed, managing director of Traffica Roading Services, partners with Hino because they are the only way to go! "I’m not a truck driver but even I can jump in one of these trucks and drive it. They’re reliable trucks, easy to drive, easy to maintain, and very efficient with what I need them to do.” Check out Traffica and their story in the video below!
