2024 marks our 10th year as a Living Wage Employer! A Living Wage is the income necessary to provide workers and their families with the basic necessities of life. For us, choosing to pay the Living Wage reflects our core values of fairness, dignity, and care for the wellbeing of our team, contractors, and their whānau. Some of our People and Culture team recently got together to celebrate this milestone as testament to our ongoing commitment to valuing our people and creating a workplace where everyone is respected, supported and empowered. #LivingWageEmployerNZ #10YearsStrong #Aotearoa #EquityInAction

We seek to ensure Earth's ability to sustain life in all its diversity.
About us
Greenpeace exists because this fragile earth deserves a voice. It needs solutions. It needs change. It needs action. Greenpeace is an independent global campaigning organisation that acts to change attitudes and behaviour, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace by: - Catalysing an energy revolution to address the number one threat facing our planet: climate change. - Defending our oceans by challenging wasteful and destructive fishing, and creating a global network of marine reserves. - Protecting the world's ancient forests and the animals, plants and people that depend on them. - Working for disarmament and peace by tackling the causes of conflict and calling for the elimination of all nuclear weapons. - Creating a toxic free future with safer alternatives to hazardous chemicals in today's products and manufacturing. - Campaigning for sustainable agriculture by rejecting genetically engineered organisms, protecting biodiversity and encouraging socially responsible farming. We exist to expose environmental criminals, and to challenge government and corporations when they fail to live up to their mandate to safeguard our environment and our future.

Climate change is like a raging housefire, with the dairy industry’s methane emissions a stream of petrol into the flames. The Luxon Govt's 'methane review' asks us to ignore the petrol pump and focus only on ensuring that the flow of petrol doesn't increase. Any sane person would turn off the pump and scramble to put out the fire – not sit back and watch the meter. The house is on fire, and our kids are inside. And it's no coincidence that this cynical sleight of hand is happening while Andrew Hoggard, former head of the anti-environment lobbying group @FedFarmers , is an associate environment minister. This is what happens when you let polluters write the policy. In every space where we need to be taking rapid action to reduce emissions, the foxes are now running the henhouse. The methane review is designed to disguise political ideology as scientific fact. It was designed to bypass the independent scientific advice of the Climate Change Commission because that advice didn’t say what the Government – and the dairy industry lobbyists who wrote their policy – wanted to hear.

The Hīkoi mō Te Tiriti showed how widespread resistance to the Treaty Principles Bill is from both Māori and non-Māori. Tangata Whenua and Tangata te Tiriti are united because undermining Te Tiriti is wrong and because Te Tiriti is vital for all of us. Greenpeace joined the Hīkoi, and we'll oppose the Treaty Principles Bill because protecting Te Tiriti is the responsibility of everyone who calls Aotearoa home and because it is entwined with our core mission to protect nature and peace. The Treaty Principles Bill seeks to undermine Māori rights as partners of Te Tiriti, and one reason for that is that Tino Rangatiratanga - Māori making decisions for Māori - threatens the interests of corporations seeking to exploit the people, land and sea of Aotearoa. Like the Fast Track Bill, the Treaty Principles Bill clears the way for damaging projects like seabed mining in Taranaki, new coal mines on conservation land and industrial-scale waste incinerators in rural New Zealand. So don’t sit this one out! Make a submission to oppose the Treaty Principles Bill, share this post and talk to your friends and family about doing it too. The more submissions we get, the stronger our voice is. Do yours now, and then share our tool with your friends and family. Toitū Te Tiriti! Toitū Te Taiao! Start here: https://lnkd.in/gk-Hcvew
