With 60 BB shell standards and 90+ BB configurations of bearings and shells in Bike Matrix, things are already looking a little tricky. Add 140+ crank spindle standards into the mix, and suddenly the room goes silent. Now imagine: bottom brackets that fit multiple shells, spacers inboard or outboard of bearings, crank spindles measured in ways that make no sense once assembled, and marketing jargon that leaves you wondering if “Ai offset” is actually a chatbot. Sound familiar? Bike Matrix has you covered. Our detailed mapping of crank and BB standards takes the guesswork out of compatibility, so you can focus on the real decisions—like “Do I want ceramic bearings?” or “Which anodized color matches my seat collar?” Currently, our bottom bracket logic is in testing and will be live in Q1, stay tuned!

If you’re into taking your tires off-road, chances are you’ve heard of Spank Industries. Known as the cool kids of the MTB scene, Spank handcrafts beautifully engineered components for the mtb crowd—and yes, they’re available in an array of blingy colors! We first started talking to the team at Spank when we were in our very early stages. They quickly pointed out, “The biggest pain point the team finds is trying to find resources at their disposal to help riders identify their existing hub standards and free hub body." That’s where Bike Matrix steps in! We’re thrilled to lighten the load for their team by providing our compatibility solution. Headsets are one of those components that the entire industry waits to pull apart and measure to determine the right replacement or upgrade. Why? Because they are one of a bicycle's most poorly documented yet complex components. It’s early days for Bike Matrix, but we’ve already mapped 45 different ways a headset can fit a headtube, which is thousands of possible combinations. With over 20 upper and over 25 lower steerer standards, the possible headset combinations, even without the marketing speak, are enough to make even the most seasoned mechanic dizzy. When assessing for compatibility we look at the upper and lower headtube of the frame, the upper and lower steerer of the fork, the frame and stem integrations, and the cable integrations as well! It’s just like pulling it apart to figure out what you need, except we can let you do it before the bike even arrives. Just want to replace the bearings? Don’t worry, we’re mapping those too! We have our headset logic going into testing shortly, so stay tuned for its launch early next year!
