Today the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan hosted the inaugural Yulduz Tech Awards, celebrating the remarkable achievements of women in the IT industry. We at Click are proud to have been a sponsor of this historic event that recognized 25 incredible women for their contributions to the tech sector. 🎉 The ceremony featured an engaging tech quiz, highlighting the profound role women play in driving technological innovation and growth. As Minister Sherzod Shermatov eloquently stated, "Supporting women in IT is an investment in the future." He emphasized Uzbekistan's strides in gender equality, noting that 49% of online learners on Coursera in the country are women, and the nation has risen significantly in the Gender Equality and Governance Index (GEGI), moving from 103rd to 52nd place. It was the first World Usability Day in Uzbekistan WUD is a day for everyone who believes that great design is inclusive and usable by all. The event in Tashkent united designers, product managers, and UX specialists of Uzbekistan. On December 7, 120 participants gathered at C-Space Yunusabad, and more than 300 online! Seven speakers who are engaged in design and research shared their experiences and created a Telegram chat of UX professionals of the country. The event was held with the support of the IT Community of Uzbekistan and the fintech company Click. A new story about the value of collaboration from me. I believe it's time to establish a regular feature: collaboration stories 😊 I want to share that we've successfully organized the first-ever World Usability Day in Uzbekistan. This milestone means Uzbekistan has now joined the international World Usability Day movement led by Elizabeth Rosenzweig for the first time. This year's topic is 'Design for a better world'. I love it❤️ The story began with meeting Mikhail Konstantinov from the UsabilityLab LLC company in Kazakhstan back in September. We started with nothing - no resources, no venue, no partners. Just one lunch meeting, and we made the decision to bring this day to Uzbekistan together. What followed were numerous meetings, negotiations, and rejections. Three times I was ready to abandon this idea, but something kept drawing me back to it. Finally, I found this amazing group of people who made it all possible: Shavkat Karimov Julia Ivanova Женя Массино Yuriy Solodovnikov Farrukh Maksumov Ilkhom Khayrullaev Farkhod Saydullaev Ksenia Krotova Dmitry Satin Julia Kozhukhova We achieved what seemed impossible: 120+ attendees, exceptional speakers, thought-provoking questions, and the birth of a new Usability community. Everything was offered free of charge, as always. My heartfelt thanks to C-space IT Community of Uzbekistan Click UsabilityLab LLC P.S. I find myself tearing up at each of these seemingly impossible events. And my son always says, "Mom, don't start again." The second annual “First Among Equals” award ceremony, organized by Kursiv Uzbekistan was held on December 10th. This prestigious event honors the contributions of women to various spheres of life and recognizes organizations and initiatives that promote women’s leadership in Central Asia. We are proud to share that our colleague, Ozoda Umarova, Director of the Operational Support Department at Click, was recognized as the “First Among Equals in Finance.” With over 20 years of experience in the fintech industry, Ozoda has made significant contributions to Click and beyond. Her achievements include: 🔹 Leading a department of over 100 employees, where more than half are women, with women holding key leadership roles, including four department heads. 🔹 Supporting both B2B and B2C segments: - In B2B, overseeing operations for more than 75,000 services - In B2C, managing 24/7 support for over 18 million Click users. 🔹 Building strong relationships with government bodies Ozoda’s leadership and dedication are an inspiration to all of us at Click. 🌟 Click: Designing for Millions – How User-Friendly Digital Products Are Created 🌟 Recently, World Usability Day took place in Uzbekistan, organized by the IT community with the support of Click. This event was more than just a platform for designers and researchers to exchange ideas; it marked a significant step toward fostering a culture of improving user experience in our country. Click is one of the first companies in Uzbekistan to establish a dedicated team focused on product design and UX. By embracing a User-Centered Design approach, the team prioritizes user needs to create intuitive and seamless solutions that have become an essential part of daily life for millions. 💡 As Yuriy Solodovnikov, Director of Design and Product Research at Click, stated: “If a user has to learn how to use an app, it’s already losing to competitors. Human-centered design should feel intuitive, almost subconscious. Our goal is for users to find everything they need right away without experiencing cognitive overload.” However, UX research in Uzbekistan faces unique challenges. Cultural nuances and the novelty of such practices can lead to skepticism or hesitation among users. To address this, Click actively cultivates an ecosystem where feedback is a key tool in creating relevant and valuable products. 📈 Interest in usability continues to grow alongside digital transformation.
