Over the past 23 years, the Firm has made significant investments in the local economy and community and will continue to do so. Having started with 10 people, PwC Azerbaijan now employs 140 staff, including selected group of international specialists from 6 countries. PwC Azerbaijan serves business organizations, government bodies and public associations bringing to them the benefit of 150 years of expertise, high end knowledge, and practical experience accumulated in PwC globally.     On December 19th, we proudly hosted our Annual TLP Awareness Session at the Four Seasons Hotel. This year's event featured two insightful sessions that explored the latest tax developments and highlighted our Tax Dispute Resolutions activities. This event also marked the conclusion of our inaugural "TLP Awareness Week". The first session, titled "Tax Updates for 2024", was led by our TLP Leader and Tax Director, Günel Sadiyeva, alongside Tax Manager Laman Aliyeva and Senior Tax Associate Ismayil Suleymanov, LL.M. They provided a comprehensive analysis of the evolving tax landscape for the coming years. During the interactive Q&A session, attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with our experts, gaining valuable insights and expert opinions. The second session focused on "Tax Dispute Resolution", presented by Senior Tax Manager Rufat Shahbazov and Legal Manager Gulnar Zulfugarova. They introduced our audience to the innovative activities of our TCDR Team, offering a detailed overview of effective strategies for navigating tax disputes. A heartfelt thank you to over 100 tax and legal professionals who joined us and contributed to the success of this event.     PwC Azerbaijan, together with the British Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan and the Əmək və Əhalinin Sosial Müdafiəsi Nazirliyi, hosted a session during 2024 Tax, Legal, and People (TLP) Week to unpack the recent Labour Code amendments and their impact on businesses. The session began with insights from Leyla Sadikhova, Senior Legal and ESG Manager, who presented on the Azerbaijan and EU Social Sustainability Agenda, highlighting the role of CSRD and ESRS in driving socially responsible practice. Rena Hajiyeva, Senior HR Manager, introduced PwC’s HR Toolkit – Odoo, an ERP-based platform designed to help businesses adapt to the changes seamlessly. Farid Ganbarov, Senior Legal Consultant, and Rena Farajova, Assoc. CIPD, Senior HR Consultant, provided practical guidance on the legal and HR aspects of the updates. Ministry experts shared key regulatory insights and enforcement mechanisms: Fuad Heydarov, Head of the Labour Policy Department; Narmin Mirzayeva, Deputy Head of the Dövlət Əmək Müfəttişliyi Xidməti/The State Labour Inspectorate Service ; Ilham Hasanov, Chairman of the Board, Labour Protection Center under the State Labour Inspection Service; Ali Taghizada, CSSMBB™, Head of the Monitoring Department, Milli Observatoriya for Labour Market and Social Protection Issues; Aynura Taghiyeva, Deputy Head of the Risk Management and Electronic Audit Department at the State Labour Inspection Service.  The event concluded with an engaging Q&A, fostering direct dialogue between attendees and speakers.
