  • KUDU Graphite Project Set for Timely Implementation: Dr. Kiruswa Reaffirms Commitment Deputy Minister of Minerals, Dr. Steven Kiruswa, has underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring the timely commencement of the KUDU Graphite mining project, emphasizing compliance with Tanzania's Mining Act. During a strategic meeting with the new Chairman of Evolution Energy Minerals, Robin Birchall, Dr. Kiruswa highlighted the government’s desire to see strategic mining projects, such as the Chilalo-based graphite initiative in Lindi, contribute to socio-economic development. "With improved investment conditions in Tanzania, investors granted mining licenses must adhere to agreements and national laws to foster development for communities and the country at large," said Dr. Kiruswa. Evolution Energy Minerals, a joint venture partner with the Tanzanian government (holding a 16% non-transferable stake), has pledged to fast-track the project's implementation. Birchall acknowledged prior leadership challenges, which led to executive-level changes, and assured the new leadership team is focused on delivering results. The company has also committed to capacity building for Tanzanians in critical and underserved fields, such as internationally accredited mineral resource estimation, aligning with the government’s vision for sustainable development. Other attendees included Dar es Salaam Regional Mining Officer Gabote Masanja, KUDU Graphite Resident Manager Dr. Heavenlight Kavishe, and the Ministry of Minerals project ambassador, Engineer Neema Mwafumbira. This project marks another step toward Tanzania’s Vision 2030 agenda, enhancing the mining sector's role in driving economic growth. #InvestInTanzaniaMining #StrategicMineralDevelopment #ValueAdditionForGrowth #Vision2030

  • 🌍 Tanzania and the European Union to Collaborate on Advanced Mineral Research The Tanzanian Government, in partnership with the European Union (EU), is set to enhance mineral research efforts to boost investment in strategic mineral extraction. This commitment was reaffirmed by Hon. Anthony Mavunde, Minister of Minerals, during discussions with Mr. Hanspaul Stausboll, EU Director of Projects for Sub-Saharan Africa, held on December 11 in Dar es Salaam. Minister Mavunde emphasized that in-depth research is vital for unlocking the potential of Tanzania's mineral resources. Through the ambitious Vision 2030 Strategy, Tanzania aims to expand its research coverage from 16% to 50%, ensuring data-driven exploration and sustainable extraction of key minerals like graphite, crucial for the global shift to clean energy. The collaboration has already kicked off, with Tanzania working alongside the Spanish Embassy on aerial surveys in identified areas. "This partnership will bring immense benefits, from increased investment to technological advancements," noted the Minister. Another key focus is value addition within the country. “Exporting raw minerals costs us revenue, jobs, and opportunities. Establishing local value-addition industries is not just a priority—it's a directive from President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan,” said Mavunde. The ongoing Nickel project in Ngara, Kagera Region, with Tembo Nickel and BHP, highlights this vision. A $500M nickel refinery is under development in Kahama's Buzwagi Special Economic Zone. The EU, represented by Mr. Stausboll, expressed its commitment to supporting Tanzania’s mining sector through research, infrastructure development, and practical training programs to upskill local talent. This partnership reflects a shared vision for sustainable development, economic growth, and advancing Tanzania's mining sector to create long-lasting benefits for its people. 📢 What are your thoughts on Tanzania’s strategic focus on minerals and clean energy?
