Graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including our Guest of honor Dr Mehmet Gulluoglu the Ambassador of Turkey, the KINYWA SALAMA INITIATIVE Launching Event on was a momentous occasion. With Dr.Mary Mwanyika Sando,CEO of Africa Academy for Public Health (AAPH) , delivering a powerful keynote speech on the Role of #youth-led organizations in Promotion of Public Health on and beyond the screen in Tanzania, and notable figures like Dr Isaac Maro,C.EO at AfyaCheck Maryam Amour,Tumaini Makole Ibrahimu Makongwa,Mohsin Mohammedali from Dentopharma Supplies and Dr Gemma Berege President of Tanzania Dental Association #TDA in attendance, the event marked a significant step towards revolutionizing the Oral Health Sector in Tanzania. Our commitment was further solidified with the launch of our website (www.kinywasalama.org), a platform designed to amplify our impact and reach. Emphasizing collaboration, we highlighted the importance of partnering with organizations dedicated to supporting oral health initiatives in Tanzania especially to the marginalized society. I am thrilled to share the success of Dentopharma Supplies' recent event in collaboration with Ivoclar, where we introduced the groundbreaking Cention N as a viable alternative to traditional Amalgam fillings. Amalgam has been used for years in the dental industry for permanent filling procedures and has worked extremely well. However, due to the environmental and health impacts of mercury, it has been banned in a number of countries in the interest of protecting the environment and patients. There has, however, not been an alternative that is comparable to the strength and ease of use of Amalgam, until now. The importance of this material is unmeasurable in Tanzania as all types of facilities require and use such materials. For this reason, with support from our partners Ivoclar, we held a training and hands-on demonstration event at Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam in order to introduce and educate Oral Health practitioners on the science and viability of the material. We were honoured to have Dr. Baraka Nzobo, Assistant Director of Oral Health Services at the Ministry of Health, and dentists from Regional Referral Hospitals and Private Oral Health Practitioners in attendance. The event successfully fostered collaboration between public and private sectors, envisioning a brighter future for the Oral Health industry in Tanzania. The positive feedback we received, particularly emphasising the affordability and ease of use of Cention N, underscores its potential to revolutionise restorative dentistry in Tanzania. Dentopharma is proud to be at the forefront of this transformation, striving to make essential Oral Health goods and services more accessible and cost-effective. Dentopharma is extremely proud of hosting this event which is just the beginning of a new wave of training-led initiatives to increase ease of uptake of core Oral Health goods and services.  Our goal is to build the right capacity in Tanzania to better serve Tanzanians and offer Oral Health services of the highest standard. As we close out the 2 day Africa Dental Symposium, I’m filled with enthusiasm and motivation. After seeing various presentations from various Dentists, Researchers and Dental Technicians among many others and how they have managed to, and continue to, master their craft, it is evident where our sector in Tanzania needs to go. My key takeaways were the sheer importance of oral health care in today’s day and age. The ability of oral health services to better and completely transform people's lives is undebatable. To have services of that level it is adamant to invest in building the right capacity, and infrastructure, raising awareness and providing the necessary support and resources to achieve those goals. Seeing how Ivoclar and their South African business partner achieved this common goal was eye-opening and shows the importance of partnerships. We are evermore confident in our vision and partners and hold strong optimism that we can achieve this in Tanzania. I have always spoken positively about the potential of Tanzania and today that opinion is solidified. The recent proceedings of the Tanzania Dental Association during the Oral Health Week following up to the Africa Dental Symposium are just as encouraging.
