Summarizing the AI + Data Track 🤖
– Of course we had to cover maybe the hottest topic of today, AI.
➡️ Why is AI such an important topic? - Well that’s because AI touches every industry in one way or another.
First, we heard Teemu Vidgren from Microsoft tell us, how AI is currently used in working life and what kind of possibilities it brings for the companies.
Did you know, that # nro. 1 thing, that is holding companies back from using AI more efficiently in their work, is lack of skilled workers? 🤔

After the general coverage of the AI-topic, we took a brief look into the future of AI startups through a panel discussion, ’The Future of AI Startups: Navigating Investments in Emerging AI Companies’.
Panelists included Luke Pappas from New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Herman Kienhuis from Curiosity VC and Kart Siilats from Superangel.
💡 Some observations from the discussion:
- There’s a lot of hype around the topic and wannabes all around, but at the end of the day AI is about learning from the past.
- We need to create an environment, which is more favourable for the startups, where the real innovations and magic happen.
🕷️But as Spider-Man said, ”with great power comes great responsibility” and AI is no stranger to that, because it has a great risk for being misused. There’s also worry about data security & etchical side of AI, which should be taken into considerstion.
🔥 We closed the track with a fireside chat ’Responsible and Transparent AI in 2024’, featuring Karoliina Partanen from AI Finland and Loubna Bouarfa from Envision Pharma Group.
Their discussion dived into the benefits of AI and also the fact, how AI helps to change business models.
Because AI is trained by data, it’s no wonder that it’s use faces all kinds of critique and regulation. (Especially for us in the EU). – Instead of treating the regulations as a problem, we should rather turn them into assets.
➡️ We should focus on creating a more startup-friendly environment, where companies
and shift our mindset from volume-driven economy more towards the outcome-driven.
