✨New balancing engine power plant to support Finland's energy transition 💚 We’re excited to announce that Wärtsilä and Tornion Voima, subsidiary of EPV Energy, are building a new engine power plant in Finland.🤝 The plant, with a total capacity of about 43 MW, will be Finland's first to provide balancing capacity to the power system. With the new plant Tornion Voima will be able to guarantee electricity production during disturbances and varying weather conditions. 💬 Kenneth Engblom, Vice President at Wärtsilä Energy, highlights: “The availability of wind and solar power varies by nature and ensuring availability even during cloudy and low-wind weather requires flexible and reliable electricity production capacity. For this, a modern engine power plant is the best option. Last week a crucial milestone was reached at Origin Energy's Eraring battery facility in New South Wales, Australia. 🔋 The site’s substation is now connected to the grid and will be supporting one of the largest energy storage systems in the world to date! ⚡
The first stage of Eraring’s Large-Scale Battery Energy Storage Project is officially energised 🔋💡 The site’s new substation is now connected to the grid, kicking off commissioning and remaining on target to commence operations late next year. This is another step forward as we adapt the Eraring site for the future, and continue to support the delivery of secure and reliable energy for Australian households and businesses.
