As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a year filled with meaningful milestones ✨ Once again, we have had the privilege of partnering with our clients on diverse business decisions and projects, and we are grateful for the trust you place in us. Thank you for making this year both productive and rewarding. We expanded platforms for meaningful dialogue, including the House of Many Voices and our Leadership Seminar series. In Stockholm, discussions covered Nordic safety, the green transition, equality, and AI, while in Helsinki, the focus was on food, youth engagement, and education. This year, we maintained our focus on making a meaningful societal impact through various initiatives. We continued our collaboration with Beredskapslyftet, supporting efforts related to the Ukraine crisis. An example of our team's commitment was the Knitting for Ukraine campaign, where they made over 200 pairs of wool socks, delivered to Ukraine before Christmas in partnership with Karavanen Ukraina. These efforts were further strengthened by donations and pro bono support for initiatives addressing the ongoing crisis. We deepened our collaboration with the startup ecosystem through SILTA, Feminvest, and Female Founder Pitching Day, supporting Finnish innovation and economic growth. At the same time, programs like the Roschier Talent Academy and All-Star Career Night inspired the next generation of legal professionals. On the client front, we advised on several impactful and transformative transactions, helping our clients achieve their strategic goals. For Nokia, we provided counsel on its USD 2.3 billion acquisition of Infinera, strengthening its optical position in North America. We also supported AMD in its acquisition of Silo AI Oy, one of Europe’s largest private AI acquisitions, and Solidium in its EUR 40 million convertible bond investment in ICEYE, a leading satellite imaging company. In Sweden, we represented Freya Investissement in its SEK 13 billion acquisition of Kinnevik’s shareholding in Tele2 and assisted the Hult Family in acquiring the iconic Märta Måås-Fjetterström textile studio, preserving an important piece of Swedish cultural heritage. Finally, we welcomed Johan Sidklev as our new Managing Partner in December, bringing fresh leadership to guide us into 2025 and beyond. We advise Enersense International Plc in its sale of Enersense’s wind and solar power project development business to Fortum. The transaction includes a fixed cash and debt-free purchase price of EUR 9.25 million and an earn-out-based variable price up to EUR 74 million based on the progress of the wind and solar power projects and project-specific investment decisions. The fixed price will be paid in cash at closing, which is expected by the end of the first quarter of 2025, subject to customary closing conditions. Exploring new opportunities abroad is an exciting way to develop both professionally and personally. Helinä Pohto from Roschier's Real Estate team is on secondment at Arthur Cox LLP, leading Irish law firm and Roschier’s fellow member of the Lex Mundi network. While learning the ropes at Arthur Cox, Helinä has also been enjoying the lively Dublin atmosphere and all the city has to offer. Let’s hear from Helinä and what she’s taken away from this experience at the halfway point of her secondment.🌍 Tell us about yourself: I am based in Helsinki and have been a member of the Real Estate team since my trainee days. I also take part in projects lead by our M&A and Energy & Infrastructure practices and enjoy the variety it brings to the day-to-day work. What were your expectations for the secondment, and how have they aligned with reality? I was looking forward to meeting new colleagues, learning from them and gaining new perspectives to the work we do at Roschier. All of these expectations have come true, and I feel very lucky to be working with such talented and dedicated colleagues. My fellow secondees have been an added bonus and a great support in adjusting to life in Dublin. Did you notice any cultural differences in the Irish work culture that added a new perspective to your work? The workplace is a very social environment where team members’ birthdays are celebrated, themed events are regularly organized for staff and alumni, and the open-door policy literally means open doors at all times. For a secondee, this has been a great opportunity to get to know people and adopt the Arthur Cox culture and values. Can you share a memorable experience or highlight from your time in Dublin? The most recent memorable experience is taking part in the firm’s charity swimming challenge by dipping in the freezing cold Irish Sea. Luckily we could warm up in a very Finnish style sauna afterwards.🌿 #roschierpeople

Mentoring is a key part of our pro bono efforts and reflects our strong culture of support. We encourage everyone, at all levels, to contribute to the development of younger colleagues. ✨ We were thrilled to host the first kick-off meeting of the Oikismentorointiohjelma ry student mentoring programme, which helps young people from diverse backgrounds gain entry into law school. During the kick-off, mentors and mentees got to know each other through speed networking, a Kahoot quiz to test their budding legal knowledge, and discussions over pizza. It marks the beginning of the five-month mentoring program, where mentees and mentors will get to know each other for the upcoming year. Throughout the program, each mentee will be paired with a personal mentor who is a practicing lawyer. Guided by their mentors, mentees will gain valuable insights into the legal profession, exploring topics like the application process, studying law, student life, and potential career paths during their meetings. 🎓 The programme is designed to give mentees the opportunity to ask questions of an expert in the field, increase their motivation to apply to law school, and connect with other young people aspiring to study law. The Changing Leadership: Insights from Anna Serner💡   What an inspiring morning! The Roschier Leadership Seminar series and the Agnes Lundell Society jointly offered an inspiring conversation on changing leadership. A dialogue between Anna Serner and Mikko Manner highlighted challenges facing modern leadership at a breakfast event at Maxim in Helsinki. The discussion was inspired by Anna’s newly published book, "Ur djupet av min bakficka". Described as a guidebook for new leaders, the book is a collection of her personal experiences and lessons learned throughout her leadership journey. Alongside discussing the book, Anna and Mikko explored themes such as the importance of values, the genuine desire to learn and reflect on mistakes, and the need for clarity in metrics and understanding the “why” behind decisions.   Here are three important insights from the discussion: 🔸Authenticity through action Leadership isn’t just about words – it’s about doing.
