Women Of Truth - YinAlithea Cyprus reposted this
Jimmy Carter, the 39th U.S. President and winner of the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize, has died at age 100. Jimmy Carter said “The abuse of women and girls is the most pervasive and unaddressed human rights violation on earth. Women’s inequality has profoundly affected our world.” I used this quote to open Chapter One of my book Antisexist. I believe it to be the truth and I thank Jimmy Carter for championing women’s rights. May he rest in peace. Jimmy Carter founded The Carter Center in 1982. The Carter Center has a goal of promoting and protecting the human rights of women and girls and has helped to improve life for people in more than 80 countries. He used his influence to advocate for women and girls and wrote “A Call to Action: Women, Religion, Violence, and Power” in 2014 that has been called “a tour de force of the global abuse and manipulation of women.” If you haven’t watched his 2015 TED Talk, Why I Believe the Mistreatment of Women is the Number One Human Rights Abuse, you should. That's true. The average man that might say, "I'm against the abuse of women and girls," quietly accepts the privileged position that we occupy.” - Jimmy Carter #humanrights #allyship #womensrights #sexism #professionalwomen #leadership #inequality #jimmycarter
