Good communication skills are essential for seafarers because they directly impact safety, efficiency and teamwork on board a vessel. Clear and effective communication is essential for co-ordinating actions, reporting issues and ensuring that everyone understands and executes emergency procedures and accurately. Communication also fosters coordination amongst crew members to be able to work together seamlessly to operate a vessel; and in turn prevents misunderstandings and errors that could delay operations.
