One of our favorite traditions is back – our annual employee holiday card. This year, David Anderson, a retired John Deere employee, captured the charm of our Moline, Illinois headquarters. His painting features the iconic leaping deer statue near our main entrance, a spot many of us pass by every day. Happy Holidays!

Picture this: You suddenly find yourself a farmer with no prior experience. Your mission is to grow corn on a 20-acre field in Iowa — all while trying to turn a profit. That’s the challenge we threw at tech influencer David Cogen. His tasks included: - tilling soil - planting seeds - spraying weeds - harvesting corn "I can’t imagine how people farmed before this tech was available," shared David. "AutoTrac™ is a such a fundamental part of farming! I don’t know how anyone planted seeds in straight lines without it." Check out David's field notes: http://spr.ly/6046Q4Mb6

The ag economy is under pressure, with net farm income decreasing and lower demand for equipment. Yet one thing has remained the same this year – our commitment to investing in America's future through manufacturing.   In this article, we highlight a few of the ways John Deere has been enhancing product development and expanding U.S. production factories. These efforts ensure our customers receive quality, innovative products that enhance their profitability, productivity, and sustainability, while also supporting our employees and communities. https://lnkd.in/gMEVxUQ9

Right off Interstate 80 in Iowa, our Davenport Works facility often went unnoticed by visitors and locals driving by. It had very little signage to tell our story. So, our team decided to change that. “The new display pad unveils the magic of the Davenport Works factory,” says Tom Johnson, factory manager. “It’s our way to connect the 30,000 people passing by daily to our products and the exceptional people who build them for our customers.”

Imagine a kid playing with a toy combine on different floors – some smooth, some rough. The kid adjusts the speed based on the carpet texture. In the real world, out in the fields, we call this predictive ground speed automation. Using cameras and satellite images, the farmer's combine receives a field map that measures crop volume. It then adjusts its speed automatically. Denser crops may need slower speeds, while less dense crops allow for faster speeds. In the end, farmers don't have to worry about slowing down or getting stuck.

Chairman and CEO at John Deere

With Thanksgiving just around the corner in the U.S., food is definitely on everyone’s mind.    But here’s a stark reality: while tons of produce go to waste each year, 47 million Americans—including children—struggle to find their next meal.    Many farmers are forced to throw out perfectly good produce because there simply aren’t enough reliable markets to sell it. Crop surpluses can lead to significant costs in labor, storage, and transportation.    However, there’s a silver lining! I’m excited to share that the John Deere Foundation has just announced a $6.6 million donation to Feeding America. This contribution will provide 66 million meals to those in need and support food rescue programs.    One amazing example is The Farmlink Project, a partner of Feeding America, which is tackling food waste by connecting farmers with food-insecure communities. They recently pulled off a record-breaking food rescue, redirecting thousands of surplus apples to food banks and helping those in need.    This holiday season, I’m grateful for many things, especially organizations like Feeding America and Farmlink. Together, we’re making great strides in ensuring everyone has enough to eat while also cutting down on food waste.    Learn more about Farmlink: (Apple Alert: Record Breaking Food Rescue)   https://lnkd.in/g5U2q2dC
