Got the opportunity to share some of my thoughts and opinions on the future of agents and brokers in insurance at Insurtech Insights this week. Here are some key highlights, pushing for sales performance from agents doesn't get you anywhere. Sales is the end state and final results from a lot of activities that are a part of the funnel 1. First you have to be able to get more leads for your agents. This can come from helping them build credibility and or tools to market themselves better in the digital age 2. Help them convert those leads. Giving them access to leads quickly and getting back to customers with quotes means increasing conversions rates by up to 7x just by being quick 3. Motivate your agents. Helping not just your top performing agents, but also the new ones who don't have a track record yet. Put resources in to activities and competitions to help them grow 4. Retention is key. Giving agents visibility on which customer's expiry is coming up soon and data backed proposals based on what other agents have sold means a better chance of retaining the customers 5. Last but not least, insurers should be open to trying and adopting new tools and technologies quickly without having to go through 12 month procurement process. This increases speed and innovation Which will eventually attract a new class of agents ready for the future.
