We connect donors & doers to advance WHO's mission and create a world where everyone, everywhere can live healthy lives.
Info
Millions of people have little or no chance of good health, simply because of where they were born, live, or work. At the WHO Foundation, we think that’s unfair and must change. We are working to improve the situation by connecting donors with amazing organizations on the ground whose projects are making a huge difference to people’s lives. Our links with the WHO mean we can make these connections all over the world, ultimately making healthcare fairer. While we share WHO's vision of a world where health knows no boundaries, the WHO Foundation operates independently.

Sharing this moving tribute to health workers in Gaza from Dr Hanan Balkhy, Director for the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (EMRO): "They serve after losing their own children. They live with the trauma of witnessing people die who could have been saved if more medical supplies were available. There are few people in the world as inspiring as the health workers of Gaza." If you would like to support healthcare in Gaza this holiday season, you can donate to the World Health Organization here: https://lnkd.in/eZDgjVsU

Realizing this video is 10 minutes long, but it’s seriously worth watching the whole thing. Denmark’s ONE OF US program is a shining example of how empathy, education, and support can break down the stigma surrounding mental health. https://lnkd.in/eTp4FCn3

Domestic violence leaves emotional scars long after physical wounds heal. Mental health support must be a core part of recovery, and Women's Advocates, Inc. is a great example of making counseling more accessible, writes Mariel Ferragamo: https://bit.ly/3OPboNY

Dorcas Simon’s life was in danger after giving birth. She was saved, she says, because an ambulance provided by WHO transported her three hours by road to the nearest health center in northeast Tanzania. To make pregnancies safer and ease the pressure on overstretched hospitals, the World Health Organization (WHO) and its partners have also equipped health centers with ultrasound machines and trained healthcare workers to use them. Thanks to improvements like these, the number of women dying in childbirth in the Kigoma region of northeast Tanzania has dropped by more than 80 percent since 2020. By sharing its expertise, WHO is a force for good health in Tanzania and around the world.
