It’s a little surreal to think that when I first met Andy Burnham at a code event years ago, he expressed a real desire to help young people in tech. However, I never envisioned I’d be sharing a roundtable with him and several web3 pioneers sharing our stories. Most politicians attend events to tick a box and get their photos before bouncing; but not Andy Burnham. He was so intrigued and consistently asking questions to us all. We were supposed to be getting a group photo, but he continued engaging with me and others about our insights in the space. That’s a guy that cares! With the general election looming and a big meeting planned that night, you’d think, like most, he’d have cancelled. He didn’t, and even delivered a fantastic speech to everyone in attendance for the event. I truly believe he’ll be a key facilitator in making Manchester a web3 powerhouse in years to come! The event was fascinating, hearing from those directly involved in conversations with governments; Tom Duff Gordon Brian Quintenz & Katie Harries . Jamie Asefa spoke on behalf of Coinbase & Maria Lema from Weaver Labs shared valuable insights. Thanks again to Ian Cox Daniel Wallbanks & the team at Manchester Blockchain Alliance for providing a platform for us builders. Appreciation to the team at Stand With Crypto UK (Katie Harries , Aadi Kulkarni Flight Story & co) for giving us a voice. And a shoutout to those who I shared the roundtable with: James Morgan Katie Gallagher OBE Richard Hamnett Scott Byrne-Fraser Adam Greenwood Janine Miles MSc. Maria Lema
