Today, we spread some festive cheer with a special treat for our community - delicious Grittibänze lovingly handed out by the TECHNOPARK® Zürich team. ✨🎅🤶 These charming bread figures are more than just a tasty snack; they’re a cherished Swiss tradition with a fascinating history! 🥖✨ Did you know? ✨️ The Grittibänz has its roots in medieval Europe, where bread figures were originally made as offerings to spirits and gods. Over time, they became symbols of St. Nicholas. ✨️ There are regional twists: In Basel, they’re sweeter with raisins, while in Eastern Switzerland, they’re sometimes savory with cheese and herbs. In Valais, nuts and dried fruits add a unique touch. ✨️ In 2015 a Grittibänz of 26 meters length and over 2,500 kilograms in weight was baked in Lucerne! Beyond these fun facts, the Grittibänz carries a deeper meaning - it’s a symbol of community and sharing. Historically, families would break the bread and share it, emphasizing togetherness and generosity. We’re thrilled to keep this tradition alive at TECHNOPARK® Zürich, celebrating the season with our vibrant community. Recently , we had the honor of hosting distinguished guests from the board of trustees of the Technopark Zürich Foundation. Our management team, including Bratislav Svetozarevic , Anastasiya Popova and Gabriel Kreuzer warmly welcomed prominent members such as Eduard Rikli, Jenny Weinkopf , Detlef Steck , Tanja Zimmermann , Gian-Luca Bona, Per Erikson , Stefan Mächler, Kurt Biri, Stefan J. Meier and Martin Albers. Their biannual meetings are a hallmark of Technopark’s commitment to fostering innovation, and we were thrilled that they chose to spotlight our startup as a successful example from the Technopark ecosystem.
