Together, we identified ultra-rare disease patients and guided them toward diagnostics, resolved access challenges, addressed barriers to treatment adherence, uncovered gaps in the patient journey, and illuminated unmet needs that might have otherwise gone unnoticed. Through the power of technology and data, we’ve transformed #patient_journeys and, in doing so, improved lives. As we approach our 10-year anniversary in 2025, we are deeply humbled by how far we’ve come. This milestone is not just ours to celebrate — it’s a testament to the trust you’ve placed in us, and for that, we are endlessly grateful. 💙 2025 promises to be a remarkable year. Last week, #SemanticHub founders had the privilege of being part of the third annual #Google Accelerator Summit in Madrid. We delved into the latest AI innovations, engaged in workshops covering diverse business methodologies, and had heart-to-heart discussions on strategies, investor relations, exits and more. The event was a rare opportunity (akin to encountering a unicorn 🦄 😉) to meet so many beautiful and smart people in one place. But that's where they do raise unicorns - thanks to Google's magic :-). But it's not all about practicality: these were 3 happy days together with like-minded ones. Despite the incredibly intense program (would be enough for a semester 🤔), we had lots of opportunities for having fun together, for deeply touching conversations and for enjoying beautiful #Madrid! No idea how to thank you enough the organizing team, mentors, fellow founders and all the old and new friends for this amazing time together! ✨ Last week, I had the privilege of representing Semantic Hub at the International Patient Experience Congress in Riyadh (#PXCongress). Organized by BII and The Beryl Institute. Semantic Hub was invited to showcase how organizations across the #Gulf and #MENA regions — clinics, hospitals, universities, government agencies, and research centers 🏥🩺— can go beyond traditional patient surveys. The focus was on how latest technologies unlock deeper evidence into patient experiences based on their authentic voices. In my talk, I highlighted how #patients share their stories every day — not just through structured surveys but in online spaces like social media 💻 📱 🗨️. Unlike conventional surveys that often limit feedback to predefined themes or numerical scores, these organic conversations paint a richer picture of what truly matters to patients — both quantitatively and qualitatively. 🌟It was humbling to engage with professionals so deeply committed to reimagining healthcare and see the genuine interest and openness to new ideas from such experienced attendees. Knowing that I could contribute valuable knowledge to this remarkable group was incredibly rewarding. It was a fantastic experience to reconnect with familiar faces and build relationships with new passionate colleagues. I look forward to staying connected and working together to advance a #patient_centric future. 📖In our #PatientVoice projects, we often uncover various details about their experiences that are worth sharing - to better understand what it’s really like to live with a condition, beyond the medical jargon. For instance, it may sound unexpected, but did you know that some #patients give names to their tumors for a wide variety of reasons? One thyroid cancer patient jokingly nicknamed his tumors "Throat Goblins" 🧌 to make the situation feel a bit lighter. Others often prefer to call their tumors after villains from their favorite sagas, such as "Darth Tumor" (a play on Darth Vader from the Star Wars universe), imagining themselves as heroes fighting the evil. A third group takes a completely different approach and names their tumors after people they don't particularly like — for example, a non-likable "Karen". This act of naming isn’t just playful — it’s a way for patients to draw a boundary. By giving a name to the #illness, they make it a bit less alien and a bit more manageable. It’s no longer a nameless threat lurking inside; it’s something they can address directly, almost like an unwanted guest. The illness now has a name, something they can speak to, something that feels more alive and tangible, and, most importantly, something they can conquer. It’s a small gesture, but it brings a sense of control when things feel out of hand.  🎗 At Semantic Hub, insights like these remind us of why we do what we do. They highlight the depth of patient experiences and drive us to amplify patient voices, making them an active source of decision-support data throughout all of #healthcare.
