NeuroRestore is a research and innovation center spanning EPFL and the University Hospital of Lausanne (CHUV) that develops and applies medical therapies aimed to restore neurological functions. We integrate implantable neurotechnologies with innovative treatments developed through rigorous preclinical and clinical studies. These developments have led to breakthroughs for the treatment of paraplegia, tetraplegia, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, and traumatic brain injuries. Courtine and Jocelyne Bloch, are in Paris, France tonight for a very special event. 🇫🇷   Professor Courtine - a proud native of Dijon, France - and Dr. Bloch are among the luminaries gathered at the “Prix des Personnalités” awards ceremony hosted by the French weekly magazine L'Express. ✨   Recipients of the awards are recognized for being changemakers who make a lasting impact in science and health.   Their transformative therapies have the potential to solve some of toughest unmet needs confronting people living with spinal cord injury (SCI).     Neuralink has now joined the expanding number of companies developing thought-reading #BCI devices that are in human trials. 💪 There is an opportunity to link these BCI devices with our spinal cord stimulation technology to restore movement after paralysis. Combining a BCI with ONWARD’s ARC Therapy creates a “digital bridge” between the brain and spinal cord that can restore walking or arm movement in a person with spinal cord injury. Currently, Neuralink has only implanted a chip in the brain. To restore movement after spinal cord injury, one also needs to implant technology near the spinal cord to deliver electrical therapy. We have already linked our neurostimulation platform with the CEA-Clinatec #BCI device to restore movement after paralysis.
