HeiQ AeoniQ™ is a bio-degradable filament yarn to replace polyester. Each ton saves 5 tons of carbon emissions!
Info
HeiQ AeoniQ™ (Aeon: striving for eternal circularity) is HeiQ’s key initiative to greatly improve the sustainability of textiles. As the global leader in textile innovations, we are creating the world’s first climate positive continuous cellulose filament yarn. Our proprietary manufacturing process can reproduce the properties of polyester and nylon yarns, which is currently not achievable by other cellulosic yarns. Made of sustainable raw materials such as circulose® and pulp waste, each ton of HeiQ AeoniQ™ can potentially enable 5 tons of CO2 emission reduction. Textiles made of HeiQ AeoniQ™ do not consume any agricultural land, pesticide or fertilizer. End-of-life products are fully biodegradable and designed for eternal circularity. HeiQ AeoniQ™ can be processed in a similar fashion to polyester (e.g., dyed or texturized) and can be used on equipment (e.g., looms and knitting machines) currently used for polyester textile production. Today’s textile fiber demand is, therefore, covered extensively by synthetic materials, mainly polyester and nylon, which are hard to biodegrade by nature and additionally release millions of micro- and nanofibers with every wash causing major marine pollution to the health detriment of organic life. By 2050 it is estimated that there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish (850 million tons of ocean plastic by 2050 vs. 812 million tons of total fish).
