The Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) is pushing greater adoption of the legal entity identifier (LEI) in Asia, Africa, and LatAm, especially amongst SMEs, so they can build trust amongst international clients. https://lnkd.in/gEH9BDMK

The Financial Stability Board (FSB) recently released a final report titled: “Recommendations to Promote Alignment and Interoperability Across Data Frameworks Related to Cross-border Payments.”   In Recommendation 6, the FSB encourages all national authorities to support the enhanced use of standardized global identifiers, such as the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI), including by taking steps to emphasize that the use of standardized global identifiers in cross-border payments is best practice.   These recommendations aim to increase alignment and interoperability within data frameworks and ensure more consistent supervision and regulation of both bank and non-bank cross-border payment providers.   🔗 Final Report: https://lnkd.in/emuhjm9j   #CrossBorderPayments #Regulation #Data #LEI #GLEIF #FinancialStability

MiCA Reminder 📅 By 30 December 2024, EU-based token issuers and crypto-asset service providers must comply with the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation. A recent article titled ‘Unlocking finance transformation: payment trends to watch in 2025’ by FinTech Futures highlights the growing importance of the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) in the evolving payments landscape.   With ISO 20022 introducing more granular data requirements, the UK’s Bank of England will mandate Purpose of Payment (PoP) codes and LEIs for all CHAPS transactions starting May 2025. By November 2025 and beyond, standardized address formats will also become essential.
