  • Estonia: Leading the Way in Digital Governance In the 1990s, Estonia set out to create a transparent, efficient, and technology-driven society—and succeeded. Today, 99% of its government services are available online, enabling everything from e-citizen services to online voting. This remarkable digital transformation has made Estonia a global leader in e-governance. For the ALU Public Sector Fellows, Estonia’s journey serves as both an inspiration and a learning opportunity. During an immersive exchange program, supported by Ambassador Daniel Schaer, our fellows engaged directly with Estonia’s leaders, including government officials and tech innovators. From the Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV) to key private-sector pioneers, they explored how digital innovation can transform governance. Over different dialogues and panel discussions our fellows also shared the African perspectives, discussing how lessons from Estonia could be adapted to tackle governance challenges across the continent. By connecting global best practices with local realities, we’re fostering innovative leaders ready to drive citizen-focused solutions in Africa. #DigitalInnovation #GovernanceReimagined #CRAImpact #LeadershipInAction #Estonia #PublicSectorLeadership #FutureAfrica

  • Every November 25 to December 10, the world comes together for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a call to action to end violence against women and girls. Rooted in the belief that violence is not inevitable but preventable, this global campaign inspires action across communities, governments, and organizations. At the Center for a Reimagined Africa, we’re proud to stand with this movement, Advocating for leaders who are turning activism into meaningful action. Ubah Dhiblawe and Halima Ali from Somalia fought tirelessly to pass the Anti-FGM Bill in Galmudug State. Through her advocacy, harmful practices like female genital mutilation are being outlawed, and communities are being educated on their dangers through workshops and awareness campaigns. Saratu Haruna from Nigeria is addressing gender-based violence through a deeply human lens: by training psychosocial counselors to support survivors. Her work is building a network of care that ensures survivors of SGBV receive compassionate, effective assistance, while also fostering prevention in her community. These stories remind us that activism can take many forms—from legislative victories to creating spaces for healing and support. This #16Days, let’s celebrate the courage of women like Ubah and Saratu, who are rewriting narratives and building a better future for all. Together, we can reimagine Africa as a continent where gender-based violence is not tolerated, but history. #16DaysOfActivism #StopGBV #CRA #LeadershipInAction #GenderEquality #EndGBV #SocialImpact
